With 2015 just past half way ,what track has earned there racing stripes so far this year in F.L. Terms being, great racing, great atmosphere, great scheldule etc.
For my money, VSP does a great job.
I think Desoto Speedway would have to be at the top of the list. Especially when you consider the the mess that the former owner made of the place. And a plus is the fact that what Jimmy Cope and the staff is doing is forcing the other tracks to step up their game as well.
I also agree that it sure looks like VSP is doing things the right way.
Another candidate would be Orlando Speedworld Drag strip. From what i read, they’re doing an outstanding job.
It’s 2015? I thought it was 2104! Anyway, yes Matt, Desoto definitely has it going on. Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes of its former sorry self. Jimmy and Critter are making all the right calls from stepping up purses, actually enforcing rules, all while making things real fan friendly on the grandstand side (like Ladies Night tomorrow is only $5). I especially appreciate Critter listening to us support class racers and stepping up to test the Hoosier 800 tires, which, if mandated, will save us all a ton of money and let us race a lot more AND put on a better show for the fans with closer competition and more cars.
Just as impressive is New Smyrna Speedway. Yes, traditionally New Smyrna has led the way but they have stepped up their game lately too. The facility is awesome with the new MUSCO lighting. As a driver, I prefer it over driving in daylight! It’s simply amazing. They have spruced the old gal up with other minor improvements too. What really makes the place shine though is Kim Brown. Robert Hart seems content to let Kim steer the ship and the result is a racer AND fan friendly atmosphere where you feel like family, not a commodity. The NASCAR affiliation brings peace of mind with it’s fantastic insurance for competitors and a pit pass $10 cheaper than almost every other track in FL. It also brings in the K and N Series, National Points for competitors and maybe a Whelen Modified Tour date now that the grandstands will be torn down on the backstretch at Daytona. Tech is firm, but fair. NSS has also taken some good points from this board like running practice almost up until show time, which is good for teams too because it means one less hour doing nothing but roasting. And, oh yeah, they are the only other track besides DS smart enough to seriously consider the Hoosier 800!
Although…
…this is a little like asking which of your kids is your favorite, my pick is Robert Yoho at Showtime Speedway.
New stands, new lights, new scoreboard, fast track calls, the show is run off quickly, competitive racing, large purses…
From the stands, they got it going on!
Desoto hands down. He took a total turd and turned it into a gem. VSP would be my number two vote. The others need to take pointers from these two.
My vote is Desoto. The Turn around in such a short time has been amazing. Not to mention the great staff that runs the place (Critter and Jimmy). Highest payouts, great track to race on, cheapest race fuel etc…
Desoto is a heck of a turnaround really getting it done, NSS is good too. Don’t forget Linda at Desoto with parking and info and Kim at NSS also getting it done.
Desoto is my pick
Desoto, Would be my #1 pick,
Good Food, Good Payouts to the drivers, and clean restrooms for the ladies. Also one of the best announcers in Florida. I also enjoy watching there Turn 5 show, where they interview the drivers, and show clips from the races.

Never been to Desoto but by looking at the car counts on here they are doing an awesome job, along with VSP.
I commend NSS for all their improvements over the past year, but for some reason they cant get over the bump with the low car counts and struggling fan support…
