Orlando SpeedWorld Race Recap for 11/7/14

CURTIS, KING & HEAD TAKE SPEEDWORLD WINS FRIDAY NIGHT

Orlando SpeedWorld returned to action Friday night, November 7th, with racing
presented by Clean Cut Tree Service & Stump Grinding of Melbourne on a clear,
chilly night that saw plenty of good action from start to finish.
After Shane Sutorus and William Hindman took heat race victories, 12
6/8-Cylinder Strictly Stocks took the green for their 30-lap headliner.
Hindman grabbed the early lead only to see the caution flag out at the end of
lap one for a spinning Tommy Flinn in turn four. Hindman continued to set the
pace and was looking strong until his engine exploded in a cloud of smoke on
lap eight to bring out the second yellow flag. Neil Kirby now had the lead in
his Ford Probe and he stayed in front until a late race caution for Jamie
Sullivan’s spin in turn four bunched up the field for the dash to the
checker.
Charles King, Sr. used a Brad Keselowski-style bump and run move off turn two
with his Hyundai to sneak under Kirby for the lead with two laps to go and he
took the win over Kirby and Warren Howie’s Chevy Caprice. It was King’s
second win in a row here but much harder than the one three weeks ago.
Fourth went to Sutorus with his teammate Megan Matheny fifth. Mark Shukwit
was sixth trailed by Flinn, Sullivan, Aaron Overman, Richard Fiore, Jr., James
Skinner and Hindman.
Twin heats for the 4-Cylinder Strictly Stocks were taken by Zachary Curtis and
Charles King, Jr. but it was Curtis who simply dominated the feature race
action for the second straight time leading all 30 circuits as he lapped up
through fourth place as no one could touch his fast-running Saturn. The race
ran Green to checker without a caution flag. King took second in front of
Justin Amspaugh with Shane Sutorus and Jeff Gross fourth and fifth, one lap
down. Rounding out the finishers were Donnie Bain, Seth Stanton and Mike
Hanna while both Troy Gregory and Kendra Gregory were unable to start the
feature.
Ted Head of Winter Haven won both the heat and feature race in the Super Stock
class driving a Chevy Camaro. Head grabbed the point from Scott Bertram on the
third lap and was never headed the remaining distance. Bertram took second in
front of Dale Sorenson and Warren Schurr. Richard Fiore, Jr. did not start
the feature race.
The next scheduled action at Orlando SpeedWorld in the annual Fall
Crash-A-Rama the night after Thanksgiving, Friday evening November 29th.
