Glad to see something finally happening up there. But as has often been the case with that track, i see they’re trying hard to keep racers away. What’s with the minimum fuel purchase?? $50 entry in the OWM race, plus $10 registration, plus $25 pit entry plus $50 worth of SNOKO (as Larry McReynolds would say ) makes for a pretty pricey weekend.
Well lets see…Pit fee is 25.00. No charge for pit slab. Track registration one (1) time yearly fee of $10.00. Entry Fee for bigger purse is normal, OWM need racing fuel to run. Track worked to get additional sponsors to fund special awards and sell laps, grandstand price 12.00 for adults, concession prices affordable, beer prices affordable. Seems like its a great event that is planned…Will you be coming to compete Matt ???
On a positive note, it’s good to see that after 4 years the track finally has race fuel… Just sayin’…

Top it off, some of us had F-53 tires in most tracks. But we have to buy more tires too, after all the pay we put in. 25.+10.+50.+50.=135. than tires added to it. What`s a tire cost now.
A set of 4 a month ago was $520 mounted on bare rims at Bronson. Management has changed since then, so not sure about now…

No, sadly i won’t be able to compete.
Entry fee for bigger purse IS normal. I’m not sure i’d call that a bigger purse.
As we’ve discussed here before, OWMs might or might not NEED to buy fuel. Looks like they’re going to be forced to even if they don’t.
I had forgotten to include the price of 4 new " track tires ". What if the racers don’t need tires.
How long before there’s a minimum 4 hot dog/hamburger rule?
Looks like those new sponsors you say the track brought in are getting their investment back on the backs of the racers.
I don’t understand why everyone is so hard on the local pavement race tracks. I have to believe it is a struggle for most to turn any kind of profit. I feel like most of them do it because they love the sport. I could see the complaints if the stands were packed every weekend, and the car counts were huge, then maybe there could be some complaints of the costs. Mark my words, if things don’t get better for the owners, it will be like it is for us amateur road racers, pay to play. That is if there are any tracks left.
The problem is, these race tracks don’t seem to have any other ideas on bringing in revenue other than squeezing it out of the fans and the racers. I believe that Desoto doesn’t force racers to buy their gas. I’m not sure about their tires. If they can do that, why not the rest of the tracks. Why keep forcing the racers to pay the tracks bills? And charging ever higher prices at the injectors.
If some of these track owners/lessees were a little more sophisticated in business, the business of entertainment, they would be concentrating on bringing in local and national business as sponsors. I realize these tracks don’t have much to offer a sponsor, but advertising is important to any company so very low ad rates and low billboard rates for awhile would get the ball rolling.
The drastic falloff in racers at local asphalt tracks can, in my opinion, be directly tied to these types of rules. Would Bronson pull in more entries if racers were allowed to use their own tires? Of course. Their own gas? Of course. If a local auto dealer, fast food place, home improvement store, or speed shop were putting up the money for the purse in this race, the racers don’t get charged $50 bucks each. And if the track rules allowed any tire, the racers wouldn’t have to purchase tires from every track they race at. Exactly the same tire by the way, just has that particular track’s marking on it.

I imagine if you don’t have money coming in from somewhere then you’re racing for trophies and not prize money.
I’m not sure how selling a few billboard spots for a few hundred dollar would fund a $1,000 to win race and pay the staff for their time.
Who else would pony up money other than the participants? (racers and fans). There’s no one left
I remember a few years ago over at Volusia they had what might have been 50 or more 4x4 signs lining the front stretch parking lot. Every national speed equipment manufacturer you could think of. I have no idea how much each manufacturer was charged, but $1000 a piece would seem reasonable. That’s a pretty good chunk of change per year to put towards the point fund, or special races. I don’t know if those signs are still there, but that was someone thinking outside the box.
Every short track in the state has room for 20 full size ( 10x20 ) billboards along the backstretch and in the corners. They have room for 100 4x4 billboards. I think NSS maybe has that many big billboards on the backstretch alone from what i remember. I’ve heard those go for $3 or $4 thousand each per year, maybe more. How do you think NASCAR brings in the bucks?
When the racers start putting up their own prize money, you have the drag racing model. And i’ve read what the short track racers think about putting up $100 or more per car entry fee like drag racing. It ain’t gonna fly. They bitch about the prices now. The only reason the drag race model works for them is that they typically have 150 cars or more show up each night.
so a short time ago everyone was bitching about the track not having tires and fuel.
The track did et a tire and fuel dealer and now the bitching is that they are trying to sell them to you.
Im sure that they wont turn anyone away for not buying fuel.
The question is why wouldn’t you buy fuel at the track?? O yea you can save $5.oo at the jiffy store and then you ask why they don’t have bigger races. The answer is that the racers in the aera cant afford to race there now.
Try to support the races there even if you have to give them a few more bucks for something you were going to buy anyway.
Just my thoughts

And if tracks take out the rule that says "YOU MUST BUY OUR TIRES AND FUEL " there wouldn’t be a complaint from me.
The way it was explained to me was you must run the track tire 750 which it looks like a number of tracks are running now on the mods so if you have used tires you can run them and dont have too buy four new tires to run the race I think there was some confuseion because Bronson was the only track for a while that came out and said they were running the 750s on the mods they were just simply say you have to run the 750s which is the track tire and your not aloud to run the f-53s.
Come on Mod Squad, support this event!
It looks like we got a couple more tracks running the 750 this year on their Modifieds- so buying tires for this race is not going to leave guys with a set they can’t use elsewhere.
No other tracks running Mods this weekend so plenty of cars available.
$1000 to win- $100 fast qualifier- $100 half way leader- $100 hard charger- for a 50 lap race that sounds like a decent purse.
I tried to get some commitments in the other post but got no takers.
Looking to bring 3 adults and 2 kids there Saturday but would really like to have an idea about how many cars will be there.
Any Modified drivers or teams going to this race please post here, Thanks!

I know that I will be there and get to see ya. Butler is bringing a mod and Bailey is bringing a sportsman. That is all I know.
I will be there with them so stop buy the trailer and say hello.

I don’t think that is what they met but just for the heck of it… Ware do you want to buy your tires and fuel and why??
Ever try to take beer into a game. They want you to buy there beer.
Most of the tracks need the income from food beer tires and fuel to pay the bills.
Don’t take your own coffee into waffle house…
Dick Anderson would bitch about the fuel rule. He said his sponsor gave him his fule. Good reason what is yours??

My e-mod motor is ready to pull tomorrow. Should have the new open motor in by weekends end. Practice next Saturday at NSS.
Maybe help a friend at Citrus Saturday…
