Hey... Let's Add Another Class!

How about Vans?

How about this?

Or this?

old guy class…no…got 'em.
kids, no, gals, no…

How about 3 wheelers Phil? ATVs vs VW “bikes” vs Can Am Spyders?

(The Spyders will need to add weight and possibly an air cleaner restriction)

How about jet powered karts? Don’t want the guy to pass you, hit the afterburner!

Actually, they did run 4 wheeled ATVs at East Bay back in the day, maybe 20 years ago.

Big field, fairly competitive as I recollect.

Hey Dave, I have always thought that a minivan class would be a good class to run. It think it would draw families, and there is such a surplus of vans out there. Call the class Soccer Moms ! Lol

Guy up here at Midvale riuns this PT Cruiser in the “Compact” (four-cylinder, front-wheel-drive) division…

The PT Cruiser makes a cool looking racecar, but they are a pain to work on and do not appear very durable. My daughter just got rid of her PT, thank goodness.

Regarding minivans, the factories build in so much understeer in the “name of safety”, and they are very front heavy. It is hard to imagine being very much fun to drive. But, if the fans want to buy tickets to see them, then go for it.

I do like the double car class! Race fans would get a kick out of that! Ok Moe, it is up to you.

Gee, I thought the original poster was being facetious…I guess I was wrong…

Here’s a new class for NSS. On the pit stop you can have the crew fill up the soap dispenser in the bathroom! :stuck_out_tongue:

For the dirt tracks with too few classes:

Flat track motorcycles powered by alky burning sprint car engines.

“Sprintsickles”

Helmet mounted wings optional.

Remind me not to shake hands with Garrity at NSS.

In all seriousness, tracks really need to start looking into updating classes to include cars that fans (especially younger ones) can identify with… I would love to see the Mini Stocks become the “Import” division using basically street rice-burner hot rods with safety modifications… Maybe some of the young guys (and gals) who run these things on the drag strips and in autocross or drifting might give the oval a try, especially if they are racing for some $$$… I also think the Bomber-type classes should update to FWD-only cars within the next couple of years… Leave the Monte Carlos to the classic car shows…

Now that is cool looking! I love seeing unique cars in the lower divisions. I hate how late models all look so generic now.
