So, either the place/purse is equitable or not.
It is like eating at a fancy joint. I don’t.
But I wouldn’t go to one and ask/expect Steak n Shake pricing.
I just go to SnS.
First off, she’s not 3 Palms Speedway, she is apparently the pit gate person. So her opinions are not necessarily the tracks opinions. And she’s certainly entitled to her opinions. Unlike most of the people who post here, she actually has interacted with both the stock car guys as well as the drifting guys.
I’m a little suspicious of her real purpose in making and posting the video. I think there may be a little more to the story than her just trying to be famous among her 6 friends on facebook. For instance, who found such an obscure post and then decided to send it around the internet?
She is correct in what she says. The oval guys whine about unfair tech, about unfair rules, about being outrun by big money, or big motors. The oval guys want to drag their fellow racers down to their level instead of upping their game to go faster. The oval guys constantly complain about payouts, and if payouts aren’t up to their liking, they just stay home. By the way, i happen to agree with that part. The payouts from this past Saturday night, all across Florida, were about the same or lower than the payouts 20 years ago. But we’ve discussed that before.
The drift guys, and the drag racers, and the tractor pull guys, the moto X guys, and all the other forms of racing just show up and race. The oval track guys are arguing over whether or not a fabricated firewall or an aftermarket sway bar bracket is legal. And if the other guy has one, and you don’t, then it’s illegal.
This has got to be the most trolling post of the century. I’m pretty sure you bitch and whine more than all the racers collectively on this forum.
I only watched about the first few minutes of this “woman” griping about circle-trackers.
I’ve read through all of the posts here, and the only one that has any sense is Andre’.
You guys all seem to forget that local Saturday-night short track racers do this for a HOBBY - which means, in most cases, you ain’t gonna MAKE any money in this “sport”. We, as enthusiasts, put TONS of money into our equipment to entertain the fans every week - and get very little return on investment.
My dad and family have been involved in this hobby ever since I can remember, and as a crew/crew chief/driver since 1974. Only two years out of the forty that we’ve been racing did we make any money - AND put on a show by coming from the back every week.
Part of the reason short track racing sucks today, in my opinion, is time trials every week, then starting the field straight up. Go back to HEAT races, and let the fans see MORE racing for their entertainment dollar. The drivers, in turn, get some more laps on the track. Start the high-point guys in the back - again, to ENTERTAIN the fans and put on a show.
With a SHOW, the fans come. When the fans come, the car count should start picking up. When the car count starts picking up, the payout should go up accordingly. And when the payout goes up, the car count should pick way up. More cars (up to a point, of course) = more racing - better show, and the cycle comes back around. When the payouts pick up, the racers are happy - and should be a lot more…well…“nicer”<?> to track personnel.

Not directly related but a good article.
If they all “know” it’s a hobby, how come there was reported whining about it?
Yo Exnyer, maybe change the title to “ex” employee.
It was a shame though. I am sure that lady got into it because she likes the sport. It was a lapse in judgment.

Man, I wish I could afford to eat at Steak N’ Shake!
Ummm? Looks like your teachers let you down in writing as well as reading skills.
I should have structured my paragraphs a little differently so you could follow along.
My mistake.
Of the century. All the racers collectively.
You’re leading handily in the categories of Drama Queen and Exaggeration. Not so much in the Syntax category.

Um, nope. Despite your cowardly insults you’re the one that needs an English lesson. I was insinuating what what JC26 had to spell out for you. Keep on trolling, though!
Scott, I wouldn’t even waste my time
Albee be like
I will, thanks for your permission! Speaking of English lessons, you only need one what in that sentence.

Yup, I made a mistake. I can admit that because I’m not a narcissist. At least you admit you’re a troll. That’s the first step!
Yeah, I know Joe. Just bored today because it’s my day off and it’s pouring rain and I can’t work on my Sportsman. Need to heed my own advice. “Don’t feed the trolls…”
I understand, Mr. Albee does have some use with his entertainment value.
Mr. Albee sure does.
“Mandatory track tire and track fuel purchase [at auburndale]?”-Mal be
But he is buying tires and fuel, presumably for Jeff Scofield (no offense to Jeff Scofield).
yep
He does bring a bit of laughter with his comments.
If they all “know” it’s a hobby, how come there was reported whining about it?
My guess is that a LOT of today’s racers seem to FORGET that this is a hobby. Unless you’re Sprint Cup/Xfinity/Trucks/ARCA or other major series racing, there’s very few local Saturday-night guys that are in this for the money.
Same here, skip right over it.
