Practice for Aburndale

Practice for next week 5/21 [5-8pm] 5/22 [5-10pm]
Tires will be impounded
Looking forward to seeing everybody.

No fuel or tire purchase required! Let’s hope it increases car count, but even if it doesn’t, it’s going to save the racers a lot of money. And that’s always helpful.
Now if we can eliminate mandatory use of track supplied products completely, i think you will see an increase in race cars.
It’s time i give Auburndale a second chance. If they’re going to step up and quit raping the racers, then they get my support. I haven’t been there since a very boring FUPS ( what a dumb name for a series ) race a couple of years ago. But i’m bringing the family over for the Sportsman Race.

Scott–Now you know why there is no soap at NSS.

Ah yes. NSS paving the way in eliminating the mandatory usage of track supplied products! (Hopefully this doesn’t apply to the food service staff!):sprachlos020:

Yet Matt gives them no props for this…:smilie_abcfra:

Nevermind that, think of how much money you are saving!

My credit card statement doesn’t seem to reflect that, Old School! However, I am acquiring a TON of sea miles on my Carnival card. At least I’ll be able to take the wife on a cruise!

I don’t think you have to worry about NSS ever eliminating ( eliminating…see what i did there…tied it in with toilet paper ) ways to make a buck off of the racers or the fans.

Sportsman Race practice

I am sorry to inform racers that practice for Friday 5/22 has to be cancelled due schedule conflicts sorry guys. practice will be Thursday 5/21 ONLY
Thanks Critter.

Attention Sportsman Racers

Auburndale has rearranged their schedule for Friday May 22nd to have practice for the sportsman class & any others that want to practice .sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused .
Thanks Critter

Thank you Rex and Critter for re-arranging for the racers

This should be a good race like last years, I have a couple issues on my end keeping me away from this race. I really hate to miss it, but unless a problem I am having goes away I will not be there with my car or my ringer driver that was going to drive my car. Hoping they do a couple more of these races later this year, will try to make the next big race.

Yeah looked like you had all sorts of issues in the “Patrick Thomas Invitational” last week at NSS… you suck lol, I was hoping to race with you again

Craig, I invited all the out of town cars to Newsmyrna last week, only one had the intestinal fortitude to show. I am not at the point yet this year with finances, or a backup car, “which is in the works” to take a chance of running a race at a track that is pretty hard to pass at, and has a tendency in longer races to make the motor run hot.

On the hard to pass at race track note, Critter has informed me that they purchased and applied the same traction compound that they used at Citrus 3 years ago that gave that race track an even better outside groove. Hopefully this will give Auburndale a better outside groove, and that it won’t be a, force your way to the bottom and knock the guy in front of you out of the way track. One of my crew guys will be there and will let me know what he see’s.

Good luck to all the Sportsman racers running this race, hope it’s clean and green, and goes well, even you Craig.

Applying traction compound on asphalt tracks is becoming a common practice. Renegade traction compound has become a big seller.
It will give a track more grooves and better racing. We’ve kept the pricing to a level that all asphalt tracks can afford, so more tracks are trying it.

We plan to go to NSS at some point this year… just not a week before the big race at adale. I understand why you’re not coming, just sucks that 1 of the best, if not the best sportsman in florida wont be at the biggest $$ race of the year… BTW contrary to you big tracks beliefs, there’s 2 grooves at adale. I went from 22nd to 5th in 18 laps the last 75 lap race without touching anybody before breaking. (yes it obviously gets tougher when you get to the top 5 or 6. but none the less it is possible).

After you Qualified 3rd and got DQed by Ricky Brooks after Qualifying. You won’t have to worry about coming from the rear of the field this week. With the traction compound you should be able to get all the way to front this week. Good luck I’ll run the next big race at Auburndale pending a couple little issues.

No race report, no talk about anything from this race. I was not there, but I had a crew member in the stands, come on people let’s talk about this big Sportsman race.

21 cars showed up

Sean Bass in his brand new and badass looking car set new track record 14.27 followed by Charlie brown 14.32, Colin Allman 14.40, Cuzzone 14.44, and Brandon Morris 14.51

staring line up after draw was cuzzone, allman, Rendell, after that im not 100% but Sean, Charlie and Brandon were something like 6,7, & 8th.

I led the 1st 16-18 laps until Sean and I got together running hard on the backstretch (my fault) and it broke my centerlink sending me into Sean. Unfortunately between figuring out what was wrong with my car and trying to get it fixed, like a bonehead I forgot to tap and essentially ruined Seans night, again my error and I have apologized. He went to the back and was spun later on making his way back up front and decided to call it quits. The rest of the race was decent, it got a little caution heavy in the middle but there was a handful of good battles for the lead with morris, Rendell, Travis Roland and beckner.

Morris ended up winning by 4-5 car lengths over Rendell, then beckner, allman and colpritt rounded out the top 5

Overall a good field of cars and for the most part pretty competitive, lots of bent fenders and quarter panels but I don’t think anybody tore clips or any major suspension off.

Bass was clearly the class of the field but the rest was pretty darn equal.

Craig, thanks for the timely and thorough race recap. I will try to be at the next big Auburndale race so you won’t have to give the recap. Sucks my track record got broke, beautiful new car Sean Bass. Thanks Rex for putting this big money show on for the Sportsman class hope to be able to make the next one.
