Tomorrow Jamie Haase is supposed to be present for the CCAA meeting to determine the fate of TPS.
I am hoping racers from Southwest Fla. will also be there to voice their frustration with the Haase regime. TPS will never succeed without racers and they will not race at Three Palms.
Races have been run with no insurance for the racers or the Airport Authority.
No adequate lighting to run races. Safety light that work intermittently. No PA system , and something that is becoming an insult to the fans, NO BLEACHERS!
I am not calling for busloads of people to storm the meeting, just some responsible racers who want a change and a track to race at.
Who knows what the possible outcomes could be from the meeting?
Maybe they will officially change the name to “3 Plams” like we have been reading for weeks?
How about designating the whole place as an underground tire dump? (Ha, sorry Bobby, I could not resist).
A few years ago, the state lost its best tollbooth test facility at Showtime…maybe they need another?
Perhaps the CC airport would make it a itty-bitty runway, but I doubt you could get enough stagger in the airplane tires.
Non-sense aside, I do love that track. It was great to race there, and I can’t think of another facility that has had such a turbulent history. Hopefully it will still be standing after this mess.
The Charlotte County Airport Authority voted today to begin the eviction process to rid TPS of the Haase regime.
It may take some time, but there will be new group running the speedway and will be a RACER friendly group.
Southwest Florida get ready for Saturday Nights Under the Lights!
Am wishing the best both to the Haase family. As the saying goes, the best way to make a small fortune in racing is to start off with a large one. Owning your track and/or having large personal or business backing makes it look easy.
As I believe Don Nerone can attest, to attempt to make an event pay it’s own way and to make a small living is a tough task, and any of a number of toothpicks falling out of the foundation can lead to quick disaster.
Am hoping for the best in the next venture for the Haase group. Hey, they, Bobby D. and Don all have had their day.
And, of course, am hoping that a well backed and knowledgeable Promoter takes over at 3 Palms and it is a great place to race moving forward.
Dave, I don’t think he was talking about the grandstands that Kevin took to Bradenton. I think he was talking about the grandstands that the Hasse’s promised but never delivered.
Kevin did way more damage then the hurricane did. I saw first hand what he did to that place, and how he left it. Sorry no excuse for it period. Why anyone would try to sugar coat that, I have no idea. Vince
