There IS Racing This Weekend!

Actually it’s this Sunday and Monday… Little New Smyrna Speedway will host the 13th Annual “Little New Smyrna 500” hosted by the New Smyrna Quarter Midget Racing Association… I went to this event last year and it was a blast watching the kids race… Many of the youngsters you watch will move on to the Stock Car ranks or other forms of racing later… Last year there were over 100 cars in attendance and there should be a similar number, maybe more this year, since New Smyrna is hosting the 2016 QMA Grands for a full week in July… This is the biggest Quarter Midget race meet in the U. S. and it will be held at NSS this year… I won’t be able to make it this year (bummer!) but hopefully you can take a break and go watch some of this great racing that can get pretty wild at times… Racing will be held this Sunday (Dec. 27) and Monday (Dec. 28)… Start times are set for 10 am, but if you are familiar with QM racing, you know that nothing ever starts or finishes on time LOL… Qualifying is first on Sunday followed by heats & features, then it’s just heats and features on Monday… Picture-perfect weather too!

Floridas dirt kart state race series in 1986 produced Earl Pearson, Johnny Collins Shane Russ Doug Moff Carlton Allen Eric Platt Justin Drawdy Petey Broughton Mike Capps. Quarter midgets were an integral part of Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewarts racing roots.
