Steele steals the hearts with pre-valentines victory at Showtime Speedway
Tampa, Florida-February 14, 2016
The Southern Sprintcar Shootout Series roared into action at Showtime Speedway for their inaugural event to start of the 2016 Championship campaign. Nineteen (19) Sprint Cars signed in for the day events all looking for a pre-valentine’s day hardware and nice paycheck.
After three qualifying heats were run, the top for would redraw for their starting positions for the 35 lap A-main. The front row would see a pair of Rookies with Ty Decaire and Clayton Donaldson bringing the field to the green. Ty Decaire would set the early pace until the first cautions for a slowing Clayton Donaldson on the back straightaway.
On the ensuring restart Mickey Kempgens would take control of the event with Dave Steele closing in fast. Steele would find himself deep in the starting field by drawing the 12th starting position of the 19 car field. Steele would set off on a mission to track down the early leader Mickey Kempgens who had build up a lead till another caution would fly bunching the field up again. On the restart Steele would take control of the event and race to the inaugural win for the new series. Rounding out the Top 5 were Mickey Kempgens, Ty Decaire, Jason Kimball and Johnny Gilbertson.
The BG Products bounce was awarded to 8th place Shane Butler, 9th Matthew Hall and 10th Troy Thompson. The Allstar Performance contingency certificate went to race winner David Steele.
The next event for the BG Products Southern SprintCar Shootout Series will be at Desoto Speedway on March 5th.
