Auburndale Speedway Race Preview for 1/15/17

IT WILL BE A “DARN” GOOD DAY FOR RACING THIS SUNDAY AT AUBURNDALE SPEEDWAY - 50 LAP RACE ON TAP FOR THE SSCS MOD MINIS

Auburndale Speedway returns to action Sunday afternoon with a great day of racing in support of DARN who sell apparel to help raise awareness of farming and agriculture to the youth through various programs along with supporting locals school’s FFA and 4-H programs. DARN apparel will be available for purchase at the speedway on Sunday and fans can find out even more about their mission and the programs they support.

The DARN race day this Sunday will be themed around raising not just the awareness of farming and agriculture, but also the upcoming local youth fair and fundraising toward a scholarship in honor of Bailey Tilley. Over the holidays there was a tragic loss in the FFA community. A young man by the name of Bailey Tilley was killed in a car crash. He went to Winter Haven High School and was just 16 years old.

DARN (named after its founders Dawn and Rick Neale) will be raising funds for the Winter Haven FFA Alumni so that they can put money raised into an FFA scholarship in Bailey’s name at the end of the year. Charity auction items will be available to bid on also. Donations during the night will be accepted plus there will be a jar for donations and information at the DARN apparel booth on the midway at Auburndale Speedway on Sunday. The “DARN Folks” will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

As a special treat for the fans, Johnny Georges, Tree T-PEE inventor who is also famous for “Shark Tank,” will be on hand at the DARN location on the midway and he will be happy to autograph your favorite DARN apparel item.

Highlight of the day will be the “DARN 50” for the Mod Mini Stocks, the first Sunshine State Challenge Series (SSCS) point race for the class. Leading the top field of competitors will be local Auburndale driver Chris Spring who won yet another Mod Mini championship here in 2016.

Also on tap will be the return of the Figure-8 racers and the great “oldies” of the Daytona Antique Auto Racing Association who will bring a nice contingent of classic Stock Cars, Midgets and Sprint Cars to the track.
