Who is Florida's Superfan?

I attended 54 race nights in 2007.
I only competed on 7 of them.
No wins as a driver, but a car I co-own won two features.

Anyone else?

BTW: KARNAC, this would be a good contest to sponsor in 2008.

I didn’t keep up with # of races I attended but I do remember the tracks I went to in '07. NFS, CMP, SGMP, GIS, VSP, NGS (Chatsworth, Ga),Lowe’s Dirt track, Daytona and Ocala.

I don’t race, but this might be a record. As far as I can remember, I have missed two nights of racing at Ocala Speedway in three years. One night I missed was the very first time that my wife ended up in the hospital with pancreatitis. The only other event I missed was the 12 Hours of Ocala in 2006 because I was scheduled to work. Other than those two, I don’t think I’ve missed a single race event at Ocala Speedway! Not bad, huh?

Really odd for me, but with the two nite Speedworld schedule, I only went to 3 tracks in 2007… saw 3 shows at USA (1 Hooters, 1 Sunbelt, and the ARCA race) and went to New Smyrna about 6-7 times… Can’t belive I haven’t been to East Bay in over 3 years… Todd Hutto must think I don’t like him anymore…

Duh

Started full time driving at Ocala in 2002(six years total).Only missed starting one feature due to an electrical fire after winning a heat race in 2003. Top four in points last five years.
Have not missed one night and been there many times our division did not race also. Raced three other tracks as well, and visited many other tracks.:sport009:
So what is my score??:sprachlos020:

Went somewhere just about every Saturday night from late January till mid December, but stayed home a few to watch Nextel cup races. Visited Atlanta,Daytona,Charlotte and Homestead. In Florida I followed alot of the TBARA shows. Local tracks visited include;

Citrus County-best side by side racing.
Lakeland-after pit stops cycle around, the show is usually over.
Desoto-Great TBARA shows, Late Models shows are disappointing.
Charlotte Co.-not enough ‘racing’ in most classes
East Bay-how can you not enjoy ‘the dirt’,nothing like a guy flat footing it!
Ocala-looking forward to the DIRT
Columbia-TBARA show, sand tracked out of the pits makes turn one interesting, navigating the wall and a 12"-18" drop off on the inside of the track (at least it was that way in March)

I worked at Desoto Speedway in Bradenton for 23 years and I probably only missed a dozen race nights. I started in 1983 and quit in 2006. Bob…

I raced on the high school running track in avon park with the legends car. does that count? haha.

I’d like to have seen that!! Bob…

I made it to 3 tracks this year. Columbia, Ocala ( met some nice driver call Jim :ernaehrung004:. Who gave Aaron some good tips about getting around that odd shaped track.) and Auburndale. I didn’t go near as much as I use to. As I get older I found it more fun to go to dinner with my wife. And have a nice quite evening with her.:smilie_bett: Getting home at 3 to 4 am got old.

Lets see, I didnt go to the races as much this past year, but I did go to.

Volusia
East Bay
Putnam
Orlando Speedworld
Ocala
Citrus
New Smyrna
Desoto
Auburndale

Made it to Ocala, Citrus, Putnam, East Bay, Hickory (NC) and NASCAR races at Daytona, Darlington, Martinsville and Bristol.

This is too funny! A vote for “ourselves”…

Going to race tracks makes you a race fan. But I don’t think it’s enough to classify as a “SUPERFAN”… a superfan is one who contributes alot of time and effort into promoting the sport, helping out during the tough times, going that extra mile.
As for the voting… it looks here like you guys are voting for yourselves! rofllllllll so with that all said… i have been known for a few years as “SUPERFAN WICKS” all over the state of Florida! I have walked many many miles thru just about every track pit in the state. Have interviewed hundreds of drivers, fans, owners, promoters, engine builders, etc. Ive done a few radio shows (FREE) and put in countless hours gathering information on our guests. (FREE)… Ive donated time at CCS when I was able. Painted, scrubbed, answered phones, call drivers, etc! (FREE)
Me and the kids have gone racing every single Saturday night and even showed up in the rain.! I vote for “OZ”!!! aka carolwicks… hahahaha
carolwicks (OZ) :aktion033:

I’ll vote for Carol. If theres a superfan among us,its carol. She;s got my vote. Bob…

I was asking about quantity, not quality.

also attended
Citrus
Columbia
Charlotte County
East Bay
Volusia
Lakeland
NFS
Thunderbowl
Volusia go-karts
Fruitland go-karts
Suncoast offshore power boat races

At Ocala I helped pick up a lot of garbage, clean bathrooms, order and stock concessions, haul kegs around, blew off the track, worked on equipment, cut grass, painted, fueled vehicles, answered phones, pumped fuel, did radio shows, hung up posters, got complained to, and all for no wage. That makes me a volunteer too. Mike
