Who won't make the Daytona 500

Here is a list of drivers pre-entered for the Daytona 500. Try to pick 10 drivers that will not make the field. Remember that the top 35 in points from last year are guaranteed. Don’t forget that Sam Hornish has Kurt Busch’s points from last year. Don’t forget the past champions provisionals.

We need to add John Andretti (34) and Eric McClure (37) to the list. I believe Regan Smith (01) and Mayfield (70) are top 35 teams. The rest of your picks looks reasonable though. But I’d bet that 3 or 4 of them will make the race.

Here’s some information I just got off the Jayski.com page. This might make things a little easier.

Where did the non top-35 drivers practice at Daytona in Practice 2
if things stay the same, these drivers would make the race:
#10-Patrick Carpentier, 1st fastest
#55-Michael Waltrip, 2nd
#78-Joe Nemechek, 6th
#2-Kurt Busch, 43rd would use the past champ prov or race in
if things stay the same, these drivers need to make the race via the Gatorade Duel [first 2 get in] or would miss the race:
#00-David Reutimann, 7th
#83-Brian Vickers, 9th
#21-Bill Elliott, 11th [could use past champ provisional]
#44-Dale Jarrett, 16th [could use past champ provisional]
#37-Eric McClure, 20th
#84-A.J. Allmendinger, 22nd
#60-Boris Said, 31st
#49-Ken Schrader, 41st
#87-Kenny Wallace, 46th
#34-John Andretti, 47th
#09-Sterling Marlin, 48th
#50-Stanton Barrett, 49th
#08-Carl Long, 50th
#27-Jacques Villeneuve, no speed
#57-Norm Benning, no speed.(2-9-2008)

maybe a more interesting question:
[SIZE=“4”]Which drivers will make the race on last years points because they’re not fast enough to belong there?[/SIZE]

i think that list might be a little heavy on Dodges.

Todd,
I couldn’t agree with you more. To expand that question, what drivers in the top 35 will make all of the first five races this year based only on last years points, champions provisionals, or traded points? What cars will be eliminated from the races because of these points? The system stinks regardless of brand.
