Nice field…! Good to see John Rankin back in it, and also watch for Terry Eaglin. He has a lot of experience running in Kentucky/Indiana against the best of the SLM drivers.
Look for the top-5 to include Ivedent Lloyd, Rich Pratt, Keith Nosbisch, Patrick Williams and either Roger Crouse or Shane Williams.
Good Luck, and can’t wait to be there!
P.S. - Are the Mods on the schedule that night also? If so, look for about 30 of them to show up also.
Didn’t see either Wayne Anderson or Mike Bresnahan…(?)
Maybe Richard Ferry will come down from up here. I hoping to come but I really won’t be able to make the decision till that day. What rules will they be under, something similar to the NLMS?
The race is the season debut of the UDLMCS or United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series. As far as I know their rules apply.
Doodle Pickens
Now if that ain’t a dirt track racin name
Get er done
Go Doodle
The rules are listed on www.fdlmcs.com. While the NLMSS cars are legal so are crate engine cars with a weight break and a larger spoiler and also the larger engine cars from Jacksonville, Waycross and East Bay with added weight.
While believe the tracks return to dirt is going bring in the strongest field of local dirt late models assembled in a very long time and while any of the above mentioned people could win I would not be at all surprised if at the end none of them were even in the top 5 either. A new track, New to dirt drivers, the prestige of being the first winner at Ocala in it’s return to dirt track and the first UDLMCS winner is going to make it VERY tough to impossible to even pick who is going to make the feature alone!
ALL I can GUARANTEE is it is going to be a race you DO NOT want to miss!!!
FEBRUARY 29th, 2008 LEAP YEAR CLASH! Ocala Speedway’s return to dirt and the opening of the UDLMCS first season!!! WOW all I can say is “IT’S SHOWTIME”!!!
This will be a awsome race…
GO!! SHANE WILLIAMS #1
GO!! IVEDENT LLOYD #21
Seconding the Bresnahan and Anderson posting.
Is this not the race they were planning on running?
Mike sent me a message, saying that he will be out of town that day on business… and it’s killing him to miss opening night. He will be at the following race, and I can tell he positively pumped up about switching to dirt racing.
He seems to be a natural talent behind the wheel, and it should take no time for him to figure the dirt thing out. Good Luck Mike!

I saw him practicing, and I think he’s got it figured out already. He looked very fast out there!
I am really pumped about that night, I can’t wait. I am a bit curious on the combining of rules with different weight limits though. I don’t think a larger spoiler and a large weight break for a crate car is going to ever be enough to run with a full blown super on any track, but I guess we’ll see.
First it can be done. Screven motor speedway dose it and crate engine cars win regularly and a crate car won there championship with multiple wins. Second, Shan Smith won 4 of 4 races in 07 against limited, 362ci engines and all aluminum super engines at New Hendry County Speedway. Third, there are NO full blown supers allowed in the series! Only NLMSS limiteds and 362 ci engines so the crates are only down between 100-200hp and if the track gets where the crate cars are pedaling t keep from spinning the tire what do you think the larger engines are going to do?
Whos gona be there?
How many of our regular Karnacians will be there? I’ll be there shooting the show. I can’t wait. I talked to Kenny last night and he expects far more than the 42 although they are confirmed. I’d like to meet as many of you as I can. Its nice to put a face to the post sometimes. We have a staff meeting at 1:00 the 29th, so I’ll be there all day. Thanks Bob…
Like I said, I guess we’ll see. (and 100-200 hp is a lot lol)
My money is on Ivedent though. with Keith Nosbisch second.
I am taking my Speedworld mini stock over there to run on the dirt. I am currently scraping together a set of dirt tires. Should be a fun night!
I’m planning on being there. Hope to be able to get some good pictures also. Bob, are you there as part of the Ocala staff, UDLMCS staff, or just shooting for yourself? Hope to get there a little early myself and I’d love to be able to put some faces to names. I can’t wait.
I am traveling with the UDLMCS this whole year. I shot all their races last year, but they were all at Hendry County speedway. Look me up, I’ll be wearing a udlmcs shirt and I’m fat with a old gray beard. Can’t miss me.
I’m looking forward to seeing all you guys. We just got an in-car camera so i’ll be playing with it to try and get the best shots I can. I’m going to take it to CCMP tomorrow and play with it. With so many cars at Ocala, I’m wondering how we will decide which car to put it in. Obviously one comeing from the back would be the most interesting. Got any idas? Bob…
Please contact me about taking pictures at the race.

100hp on dirt is not that much of an advantage. Setup and drivers skill will well out way the difference easily. There are over 1 Million ways to take yourself out of a race in a dirt late model on the rear end setup alone The rules run last year were very close. The 17ss came from 8th to 1st in one lap of the heat race passing several cars with much more engine.
Bob, Ken has your shirt at his house.
Hey Kip, Ken told me about the shirt last night. I can’t wait to see them. Are you going to be there for the meeting at 1:00 Friday? Bob…
