Lake City, FL (Feb. 25, 2008) There is a lot of excitement in the air at Columbia Motorsports Park as they get ready for the FAN APPRECIATION Night this Saturday, March 1, and the opening of their 2008 season.
“We have been very busy getting the track ready for this Saturday,” said new owner Don Nerone. “I think the fans and drivers will be happy to see the new improvements and this is only a start, they will get better and better.”
Tim Lake, the Promoter at Columbia Motorsports Park, has had his hands full this past week giving out 10,000 free tickets for the opening night. Fans can pick up their tickets at any S & S Food Store.
“We have definitely had our work cut out for us getting the track ready for the opening night but we want the fans and drivers to see a new face on the old place and that it is only going to get better and better. We want our fans and drivers to feel at home and welcome so they keep coming back and hopefully bringing new racers along with them,” said new co-owner Sandy Nerone.
All media is welcome this Saturday for the exciting opening of Columbia.
“We know how important it is for the local guys to see their names in the press and we are hoping a lot of our local media come to cover this event. We would like to join hands with the press not only to promote the track but to promote the racers who make the track,” said Promoter Tim Lake.
Fans will see some great racing this Saturday with Super Late Models, Sportsman, Pure Stocks, V-8 Bombers, and Hornets.
“We are hoping that a lot of new racers will come and try out the one-half mile track and see what a great track it is to race at. We really would like to see the track build up better and better where racers and fans want to come back every Saturday night for some great local short track racing,” added Sandy Nerone.
There will be an open practice on Friday, February 29th, for all racers from 5 to 9 pm. Cost is $10.00 per person, grandstands are free to watch practice.
Racing will start at 7:30 pm on Saturday, March 1. Grandstands open at 6 pm. For more information on Columbia Motorsports Park, go to www.columbiamotorsportspark.com.
