So what were the number of cars in each Series?

Desoto

not many.8 minis and 10 sportsman.both were entertaining though with real close racing.

Auburndale had 12 SSS cars for it’s weekly racing.

I heard part of announcement that said Auburndale will be having $800 to win / 40 lap races for this class. THat’s all I heard. I don’t know if it monthly or what.

CCMP had 8 mod minis and 14 mods.

That’s the reason that the SSS Series wasn’t picked up at Auburndale. They draw more cars each week on their on. And the track doesn’t have to pay the big bucks to the Series. Plus half the drivers last night were in the Series at one time or another.

The car count numbers were not too good at Desoto, but there were 14 cars in the pits, and 1 blew an engine before time trials. I really want this series to survive, so here are all the good points about last nights racing. #1 Only 2 cautions, #2 The purse has been raised all the way thru the field with $1000 to win and a respectable $225 for a tenth place finish #3 The tech was thurough (spelling) before the racing and after the race. This series will turn around with the help of the drivers and crews that have supported this series in the past, and the new people coming in.

Especially for Rick---- The auburndale rules have changed so much since I was there last year that my SSS car will not even be competative with your Sportsman cars. If you need me to list what major things that have changed at your track I will. I still hope to see some of Auburndales cars at some of the SSS races they would be a good addition to the series.

Congratulations Steve Gainey on your win you drove me clean and left me a lane to race and that is all I can ask for.

                                            Patrick Thomas 25

Sorry Jane if I made my post hard to read, but I did not blow a motor in practice, the 44 of Bob Beiler did, and I dont know what happened to the 3 car of Jimmie Best. Sorry for the confusion.

Sss

mY memory was wrong ,there were 12 cars ,anyway was a good race. They don’t have sportsman at DSS except when SSS is there.

Patrick, no need for a list. I understand and that’s why the 6 former Series drivers that were there on Saturday must likely will not be racing in the Series this year. Plus the different tires between Auburndale and the Series. Just hope some of the new drivers are able to keep up with you and Steve. Good luck and have a safe year.

Gary, I tried talking to John a few years ago. About having a class for these drivers down there. They would show up the weeks that the Series wasn’t racing. Why because so many of them live within 2 hours of that track. They were most of the top drivers in the Series at the time. But he didn’t seem to care about it. It could have been alot of fun.
