Did you make it to Ocala last Friday?? If so I missed you somehow.:sprachlos020:
----JIM-----
Hey Jim, Yes I was there from about noon to 1:30 Sat morning. I was pretty busy most of the day. I met Winger and I saw the old sunshine fans truck.
You guys have a very nice facility. The track was supurb, although it got rough as the night wore on. As you well know the whole field had to race on the same track so no one had an advanage. The racing was some of the best I’ve seen in several years. The only downside I saw if there was one, was that I had to drive 250 miles to get there. I got in bed at 5:30 Sat morning. I got up at 10 to get ready for CCMP. Got to bed Sun morning at 3 am. Got up at 8:30 to shoot a church service. Man what a weekend. I wouldn’t trade it for any thing. I love it. Where were you Jim? I was all over the place all day,I would be surprised if our paths didn’t cross some where.
I was the fat guy with a gray beard and a UDLMCS shirt on walking around with a video camera. I think I heard yesterday that there was 4000 people there and Mike told me that his stands only hold 3000. Man 1000 people standing to watch the races. I probably know a dozen promotors that would klll for a crowd like that. Couldn’t happen to a nicer couple than Mike and Angie. Sorry I missed you. Bob…
I forgot about this Jim. Bob Winger took this as I was taking my in-car canera out of Shawn Smiths car. Bob…
I Was Not Hidden’
I was all over the pits with a set of head phones on directing the cars on to the track. BJ and I were parking rigs before that.
Near 4000 was a total between the grandstands and the pits I think. That did not count the kids who get in free. One thing for sure on my brief visit to the grandstands, I did not see any empty seats at all. Lost count at 140 cars too.
The fans and drivers were all a pleasure to work with and on their best behavour as well, with only one exception. We all learned how to deal with a big crowd and things will get easier from now on. Gonna’ be a great year at Ocala.

I am sure I saw you and BJ, but didnt know who you were. I was running around in my golf cart its white and has a 6" lift on it with racing decals covering it. You probably told me to move over a rig was coming thru, I got ask a few times. The pits were really full. There was abunch out the back gate. We interviewed Shawn Smith and another guy that I didn’t know out there. Was a good show, Bob…
I guess we Karnac people need to get shirts to wear so we can recognize each other. I would have liked to meet you and many others that were there. I was happy to meet Bob, Jack, Rick Anges, Chaplain Bill, Angie and a few people from the north. I wish I had met Boneman, OSF, BJ, Backrow, Ocala76, and the other Karnac members. I missed Rick also, who was suppose to buy me the first beer. BTW, I was the fat guy with a blue, gold, and white windbreaker that was trying to take pictures and dodge the cars at the same time.
I got around 600 photos that should be posted on the fdlmcs.com site soon.
Sorry Winger I never left the pits. Offer still stands though, I know for sure I’ll be back up there for some more Dirt Track action. Next time I’m sure to be on the spectator side. Were you walking around with the radio show people and taking pictures???
Actually I spent a couple hours in the pits before racing began and another hour there after the late model feature. I didn’t have a jacket on in the afternoon though. I was walking by myself taking pictures. I’m sure I’ll be back there also. I was very pleased with what I saw.
