I guess it’s official, hell has frozen over.

Asa

I think there are 2 asa groups. This must be the different 1 then the 1 he got alienated last year.

Wasn’t Bronson Motor Speedway once one also?

Bronson still is a member. All Sportsman drivers got paperwork on it last Saturday night.

I think East Bay is too.

ASA Member Tracks

And how many believe that John will learn anything from ASA? When he will tell you he knows it all. Did they look at his past history?

In need of education…

I am filled with shame. Will someone please explain to me what being a “Level 1 participant” in the ASA Member Track Program means…

And in what way does this prepare Desoto for the future?

These are just simple questions posted by an unenlightened heathen in search of a few knowledgable answers. Not sarcastic, not negative…I really just don’t know much about the new ASA.

Thanks

OJ

Ohhhh…the link.

Whoops…clicked the link and found a few answers…duhhh…

Thanks, Rick.

Asa

The owner of this ASA says His is the “real” ASA ,On the website they list all member tracks and southeastseries schedule.

“I know that there are a couple of people in the sport using the ASA name, but I am confident that aligning with the authentic American Speed Association”

ah. so John has found a way to get an extra dig in at the ASA guys he threw out last year, huh? classy.

Correct me if I’m wrong on this. It gets confusing. Isn’t this ASA member track organization the organization that sued the ASA racing series over the use of the ASA name? Wasn’t it the ASA racing series that the owner of DSS had the altercation with? If this is correct, I agree that someone is just getting an extra dig in.

As best as I can tell you are right.

Old thread

I found the old thread from dec. saying Dennis Huth was suing Ron Varney head of the ASA racing series etc…

The way I see it goes something like this:

Rex Robbins, founder of the ASA, sold both the ASA Series, and the ASA Track Memeberships to Steve Dale. When Dale was going broke, he sold the Membership division to Dennis Huth. Rex Robbins, who hadn’t been paid by Dale, sold the Racing series rights to Ron Varney. Now both sides claim to have ownership of the ASA rights.

Problem is, Huth bought his division from Dale, who didn’t have the legal rights to sell the Member Program, because he defaullted on the original purchase agreement. In short, Steve Dale sold a division he didn’t own. Ron Varney purchased the rights to the Racing Series from Robbins… the original owner.

Now they each think they have the rights, since they both PAID someone for the rights.

My guess says that Huth will get screwed in the long run, and Dale will be in bigger trouble.

I also think that if one side or the other would change names, most of the trouble would go away.

The “other” ASA series, or the same one that sanctions various tracks, is starting the ASA Southeast Tour. This series may have some potential. From what I understand, it’s main goal is to put people in the grandstands and agressively pursue race advertisers. They also seem to have a good mix of veterans and teenagers who have registered as drivers. I believe, their first race is this weekend in Mobile. I think they are coming to Bronson this year as well. May be worth checking out.
