Pictures from the Inaugural Carolina 500 are now up on the photo album on Southern MotoRacing.com.
Herb Scranton shot the race from his camera in turns three and four most of the day.
Joey Logano, fixing to go Nationwide racing, picked up the first ever ARCA victory at the now reopened “The Rock.”
The race drew a crowd estimated at 20 to 25 thousand.
The race known as the biggest paying purse for ARCA, also started some 50 cars and one other car that had a driver as a winner from a contest.
Former ARCA star Andy Hillenburg bought the race track at auction for some 4 million dollars. He also beat out Sprint Cup owner Richard Childress in the auction.
The Rock will also see another race this year, The American 200, for the ProCup Series later this fall.
Hillenburg also has something to announce in its new plans later this year.
Speculation right now is the most that you will see as far as NASCAR coming back would be a Truck race.
Hats off to Hillenburg and his staff for bringing back racing to The Rock. It is sure to have an economic impact on the citizens of Richmond County.
The track was full of racing people that wanted to help out on getting racing back at the rock. Cup star Ken Schraeder came home second and Tony Stewart waved the green flag. The race was also carried LIVE on SPEED.
