The Super Cup Stock Car Series may be in its first year however this series lacks NO variety of drivers.
Some drivers moved over to this series from the ProCup. They were experienced and veterans as well.
But the series also picked up the youth as well when Lonnie Rush and Mart Nesbitt put seventeen year olds in their cars as development drivers.
Moreover, Megan Reitenour became the first female driver to win a race this year at Tri County.
Now Joe Schmaling may be helping find a ride for the series first black driver.
Randall “Lightning” Hooper was in the garage area at Franklin County helping out with the Nesbitt team however he would like to try his hand in the Super Cup.
Hooper does have some experience in race cars.
In fact he is the first and only black driver to win a race at Winston Salems Bowman Gray Stadium which is full of heritage.
Though not used to the heavier steel bodied cars of Super Cup, Hooper does have the race car knowledge of how these things get around tracks.
Perhaps Schmaling, who loves and welcomes driver diversity, can help Hooper land a ride in the Super Cup.
