Mods at Macon

Track co-owners finished one-two in the Modified NASCAR star feature. Ken Schrader worked his way through the field. He had to pass plenty of great drivers to take the win on his home track. Kenny Wallace tried to stick to the bottom to hold onto the lead but Schrader had the high line down to a science. Steven Wallace worked his way up to third and David Stremme finished in fourth.

Buzzy Reutiman, father of David, led the race early, at one point leading by half a lap. But a flat left front tire dropped him back into the clutches of the field. Reutiman finished in fifth.
  1. Ken Schrader; 2. Kenny Wallace; 3. Steven Wallace; 4. David Stremme; 5. Buzzy Reutiman; 6. Mike McDowell; 7. Mike Bliss; 8. Mike Wallace; 9. Josh Wise; 10. Bobby Labonte

hey billy is that macon georgia…if so do you know where abouts its at…i just move to macon area and cant find any tracks near me…and i miss my friday nights at orlando…

No, it’s Macon, Illinois. not to far from St. Louis. It’s a little 1/5 mile. There used to be one by Macon, Ga. that had a moonshine still in the 4th turn banking, and the shine was pumped to the race cars, that had a special second tank, through the gas pumps.

Yeah, you’re in kinda a bad spot for racing. I think Cochran would be the closest to you. I’ve never been there, so I don’t know what the racing is. I can’t figure out why the Macon/Perry area can’t support a race track. There’s plenty of population in the surrounding area. If you catch any races in that area be sure to let us know how they were. Also the Cordele track is between you and Valdosta on I-75. billy

thanks billy…after i posted my hubby told me it was up there…i felt stupid…but what am i supposed to do without racing…i was just hoping…yes i know codele is not to far where im living…and ive been there before i moved up here…im sure jerry might know of some tracks around here…we were told there was a track near dublin but cant find any info on that…at this point i dont care if its dirt…i per the other, but cant pick at this point…

The track that I know about around Dublin is closed. Cut across to Columbus and Phenix City has a good track, but really, in your area, they are few and far between. billy

Linda… The only tracks around there I know of, are Watermelon Capitol, in Cordele (asphalt), plus Cochrane and Swainsboro (both dirt). Of the 3, Swainsboro is probably the furthest, but puts on some very good shows. The Nat’l Late Model series usually make a 2-day weekend out of hitting both tracks on Fri./Sat. nights.

From what I’ve heard, Swainsboro has put down new clay, and the racing is even better than before. If you can leave work early on a Friday sometime, I highly recommend a trip there. Cochrane wasn’t as racey, but I still had a LOT of fun there. Both tracks are VERY family oriented, and I guarantee you’ll meet a few people that will help you “cheer on” the drivers, as only you can!!!

P.S. - I didn’t know you’ve moved out of the area… we’re gonna miss you!

Jerry…
