Perhaps my Natalie Sather posting has caused everyone to be so completely captivated by her that no one can concentrate long enough to play this game any more.
Gentlemen, I give you a cold shower - Sterling Marlin, 2001, Busch Series, Sadler Racing.
From my original “hometown” of Willaimsville, NY, Bill Brainard.
Bill was a high-school mate of my Fathers, and was gracious enough to make it to last years Reunion. They hadn’t seen each other in almost 50 years. I had never met him before, but has been a great guy and very encouraging with the get-together efforts.
Geoff Bodine in an ex-Mario Andretti Indy car, rebuilt as a Supermodified for Oswego. Also a shot of the moment he damn near lost his life. How he survived this wreck can only be described as a miracle.
How about “Night Stalker”, Billy Bishop. His Grandson (or is it son?) Scott, has torn up the local Truck series’ around Florida, although he hauls in from SC for each race.
How about this one. The D1RT car… obviously on asphalt. This car looks about identical to the car that Jim Dunn ran on dirt, and won the first Dirt Track World Championship. Tragically, he was burned to death in a racing fire less than a year after his biggest win.
A couple of Ed Howe’s creations. He also had a team car, #GOing" that Tom Maier drove. Sometimes they would remove the fenders and race against the Modifieds. The “H” car was somewhat of a test car for Hoosier Tire Co. (notice the actual shape of the “H”).
This one (although an artist’s rendition) has an unusual story. This is a Turner Brothers owned, Gary Reichert driven Supermodified… on Saturdays only. On Fridays and Sundays, it was a Vega bodied Modified (numbered 18). One year, he won the Mod 200 at Oswego with the Vega body, and finished 4th in the Oswego Classic for Supers the very next day. Owner Don Turner was also at the Reunion and I hope to see him again this year. He and brother Ray are in several “Hall’s of Fame” in the Northeast for their years of fielding winning racecars on both dirt and asphalt.
