Kevin Gundaker from Missouri, was the first racer I’d ever seen attempting to get around East Bay Raceway without lifting off the throttle (about 1982). He made it, it was spectacular, and I’ve been a fan of Dirt Late Model racing and Kevin Gundaker ever since!

Stand-on-the-gasser, Jason Solwold. He lost this ride to Jac Haudenschild along the way.

An early ride for Brett Hearn. Must be nice to live your entire adult life, without ever having to get a “real” job.

I believe he is now over the 500 win mark!

One of the All-time greats in a Dirt Late Model, this is Billy Moyer back in 1982. Hard to believe that “Billy The Kid” has been racing almost 30 years now.

I guess since “The Kid” no longer applies, he has been known more in the last decade as “Mr. Smooth”.

Bobby Allison made a career out of racing anything, anytime, anywhere. Here is a shot of him in a Dirt LM.

If Hollywood ever made a movie about the life of Bobby Allison, it would come across as far to hokey to be true. Non-racing fans would never believe that one person could ever handle all of the things that he really has been through.

This one’s so old, Jimmy Spencer was still wearing his OWN hair!

This guy could wad-up a racecar, and it didn’t matter if it was an Indy Car or a Top Fuel Dragster… but he was always near the front while he was doing it.

Not only one of the VERY few cross-overs between Ovals and Drags, how many other racers can you name that were from Hawaii?

Danny Ongias was bad-ass in his day!

Local racer, Adam Bedenbaugh, was (to me at least) a huge surprise in the ULDMCS Series this year. It looks to me like he knows how to conserve tires, stay out of trouble, and often winds up in the top-5 by races end.

I predict at least a few wins next year, and possibly a Championship in the next 2-3 years.
