Sunbelt Results?

It really shouldn’t be this hard to find the results of this state’s premier super late model touring series. No results on the FASCAR website, no results on the CMP website…

I just heard from a relative of one of the drivers that Wayne Anderson won, as I predicted to him. Anyone got the rundown of the race?

All I know is Wayne Anderson won or so I was told.

“this state’s premier super late model touring series”

Only because it’s the ONLY SLM Touring Series. Does ‘anyone’ even care anymore? Getting “the BEST 20 in the state” isn’t hardly possible anymore. It should’ve been phrased as “the remaining 20 in the state”.

I have been looking for 2 days now and didn’t find one thing about who won. I guess you have to have another last name other than Anderson to be mentioned anymore. If somebody different won it would be front page news and plastered everywhere but, typical second and third hand info because it’s too hard for them to type the results. same thing at Punta Gorda. Wayne won down there awhile back, and it even isn’t mentioned on there site, they have everything about other guys, but once again…If that name is mentioned, hmm, can’t write about that one… Just another way to keep his loyal fans guessing…:ernaehrung004:

Maybe Sandy was just trying to get some sleep and hasn’t posted yet . I’m sure the reults will be posted soon if they aren’t already . I doubt it has anything to do with who won .

Wow,12 cars!I live about 40 miles from Columbia and 140 miles from East Bay I am glad I made the trip to East Bay.

Results are on the Fascar Website. www.fascartours.com

Thanks everyone for the results.

I really, really hope they make some changes to the Sunbelt Series for next year because that is positively sad that twelve cars showed up. I used to chase that series all over 3-5 years ago and now I would have been very upset with myself had I driven all the way up to Lake City for twelve cars.

This is only my take but it is not the series that is the problem, it is today and our economy. I know quite a few of the Sunbelt racers and they just did not have the money to haul to Lake City. It was not the series that stopped them but money and money does talk to many of us. The 12 cars that were there, they were good cars and yes, maybe they have more money than some of the other guys but I can’t blame the series for today’s economy.

We can blame anything and everything for low car counts today but when it comes right down to it, it is that dollar which makes the difference. I know quite a few of the guys intended to run the full season and then layoffs happened, Tropical Storm Fay, etc., etc. and they have to pick and chose now if they can race what race or if they can race at all.

People that know me, know that I am the first one to ask questions to racers about why they are not racing or what happened that they can’t. This year I have seen many racers that I saw all the time, stop racing or only race when they can because of money. They did not blame a series or a track or tech or tires or gas but the cost of just living and having to chose what is most important. Some have lost their jobs completely and racing is the last thing on their minds. If they had the money, they would be here but they flat don’t have the money.

Say whatever you want to say but try asking alot of these guys that are missing why they are missing for real instead of automatically blaming a series or a track. Most would give anything to be out there but they can’t because they had to chose what was best for their families.

Again, ONLY my two cents.

To your point, I would look at the series rules and payout distribution to help get those guys back out.

I wish I had a magic wand and I would make everything the way it should be but I don’t. I wish I could give back people their jobs and give them bigger purses to race for but I can’t. But sometimes even the biggest purse or most
liked rules won’t change today’s times. I wish I was not about to lose my friend but I am. I wish I could catch up my house payments and make everything better for my family but I can’t. All I can do is what I can do and if I can help someone, I will. But purses and rules are not what is stopping alot of my friends from racing, it is plain not having the money to race.

If someone out there has a magic wand or a money tree seed, I would love to have one. Then I would make everything better for everyone and my friend would not be dying and I would actually have a decent floor in my house. But until then, all I can do is support the ones who can race and miss the ones who can’t.

I remember when the results used to be published in the local newspapers and I’m not that old.

The Dirt Late Models brought 63 cars to Volusia.

Ocala had around 30 Sprint cars a few weeks back.

Citrus, Desoto and Charlotte County tracks usually have about 20-25 SLM cars.

But yet the “premier” Sunbelt Series can only bring 12? Do all the other racers live in some magical county where the recession hasn’t hit yet? The economy only sucks for the Sunbelt teams?

In general, car counts are off everywhere, but not at the level of the Sunbelt deal. Blame the economy all you want to, but you are barking up the wrong tree. Try blaming the outrageous fees that are associated with Sunbelt… starting with practice sessions that cost $200.00 per car (not to mention the set of tires, the half tank of racing fuel, and 100 laps closer to sending your motor back to Progressive for a rebuild). How about Hotel rooms for the whole team? 2 days worth of meals for everyone. How about skipping a day of work to make it up there for practice.

And if you choose NOT to spend Friday blowing a ton of money for ZERO return, then you can spend another $1000.00 for tires, fuel and entry fees, all for the priveledge of watching Russell and Anderson’s back bumpers as they run away from you. They have team owners and sponsors who are willing to pony up the budget to spend every dollar that Sunbelt/Columbia is willing to let them spend. And that is TOO many dollars.

Gone are the days when a guy could wake up on Saturday morning, change the rear-end gear, and haul to some out-of-town track, and have some kind of a chance to perform well.

The racers with a big budget are ALLOWED to outspend all of the lesser-budgeted teams, to the point where they say “why bother?”

When it comes to Sunbelt, and why it ISN’T working, I think it’s time to look out for the health of the entire class. Quit worrying about how to suck every dime possible out of the pockets that CAN afford it, and start figuring out how to get a few dimes out of the pockets that can BARELY afford it.

Blaming the economy is just plain bullshit!

Here, here, Jerry. You make some great points there. As someone who is getting laid off in 2 weeks, I too could blame the economy for why I’m not going to the track. But I am still going. Why? Because I enjoy it. Because the people there are friendly and welcoming. Because I don’t know who’s going to win (except Keith Briggs. But I’m not a mini stock guy anyway).

I’m dropping $20 this week to go see Crash-A-Rama because it is an entertaining show. God bless Wayne Anderson, but I wouldn’t pay $15 to watch him win over 15 hopefuls, especially if it’s a done deal.

I had a racing column in Florida Today for over 3 years. Last year because of BUDGETS, they cut the column completely but it was great. They say if things improve, they will bring it back but who knows. I tried to get them to run the column in the on-line paper but not enough people wrote in for them to do it. But the best thing anyone can do is write their local paper and complain and if enough do it, they will bring it back. But I remember alot of things also. One year, when Dick was still at Orlando, we had a two page story with lots and lots of color pictures of local drivers. Orlando paid not one penny for that or anything I did for the Brevard racers which put Orlando and New Smyrna in the paper weekly. It was great and the guys actually told me how much they appreciated it all but once again, money came into the budget and local racing went to the wayside for little league.y

Keep on writing your local paper and sooner or later if they get enough letters, they might just hear you.

When they were pulling that article I wrote the guy you mentioned. He wrote back told me that he had no control over it. When the Florida Today came into my office and wanted me to advertise with them I gave them the same answer, then I explained to them how I felt about the racing articles they pulled.

I remember the News Journal used to have the results too.
