What happened with the 56?
Not entirely sure but they pulled intakes on 2 crate motors and something didnt match inside.
And why the 2 DQs after time trials? Don’t all cars have to go through tech before the race? They always did in the past. And the cars weight was one of the things they checked.
Yes they make all car’s go through tech before they are allowed on the track for practice, but it is the driver’s responsibility to make sure the car weigh’s enough after qualifiying. We broke a fuel pump after 1 lap of practice and thrashed to get it fixed in time to get 2 more lap’s of practice before the practice session ended. Being we were running on a new tire brand which we had never run 1 lap of practice on, we had to make several change’s to get ready for qualifiying, and totally overlooked putting fuel in the car and rescaling it before we qualified. That is why we were sent to the rear for the start of the race. We were 10 pound’s lite the first time they scaled after qualifiying, then they sent us around to rescale again behind the other car’s and that time it was 14 pound’s lite. I really like the allstar type format, it added some strategy, gave you a chance to work on the car to make it better, and made you have to pass car’s if you were going to be at the front in the end. I hope this becomes a annual race, I think it made for a very exciting race. Thank’s to all my crew guy’s and my wife and my sponsor’s for there support and there dedication on helping win the Southern Sportsman Series Championship…

Hey Patrick, I had a blast racing with you guys, hopefully I stayed out of your way and everyone elses. First time ever in a sportsman race, with VERY limited practice, new car and I still had a blast. Scott also gave me the award for hardest tires after qualifying as well. If there is a series next year I look forward to being more competitive and being able to actually race with the leaders.
On another note, I would like to give a HUGE thanks to the Boneman and Michael Seay for all their help last night. Help like that is hard to find. I cannot express my gratitude enough.
Thanks again,

I almost forgot, I wanted to thank Scott for getting me a few laps of practice in after showing up late. I cannot believe that more people dont race in this series.
what happened to the car?
Both my motor and the motor in Morris’ car had all the Gm breakoff bolt’s but the lifter’s in Morris’ motor were not the same as the stock hydraulic lifter’s that were in my motor, so they DQed him for that reason. Ted Head who used to be a rebuilder for the GM crate motor is who did the tech and found the problem.

the lifters off of both cars were solid no lifter pushed down at all both of them should have been dqed
It seem’s that you have been misinformed, they pulled 2 different lifter’s out of my motor 1 they collapsed and took apart the other I did not watch after I gave it to Ted. The lifter Morris’ gave them would have taken snap ring plier’s since it didn’t have a little piece of round wire like mine the stock one.

Still not entirely sure, something in the carb. Everything else is fine, no real damage. The carb was acting up all night, really bad on restarts and low RPMS. I couldnt start in 2nd and shift because the tranny was acting up as well. Have a lot of bugs to work out still.
