It’s either Jim Bates or Rusty Baines.
Their cars were always ran as “The GO MACHINE” and was owned by the late Jim Staines. All of there cars were built in their shop. It’s still called 10th Street Garage to this day and is still owned by the family in Ocala, Fla. Roy [son] quit racing about 10-12 years ago.
Dave, if you really need to know who this is for sure, I took the liberty to look up the phone # for ya. It’s 1-352-622-5406. The second # in the phone book is 1-352-622-5190. They might be opened tomorrow [Sat.] but I’m not sure. Hope this helps. Jimbo

Looks like Jim Bates to me.

Thats a great picture, and it sure looks like Jim Bates to me. I have watched Jim race in the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s allover north central Florida. A great racer and a great guy.

Your right! When I was a kid, I knew him because of my dad. Jim worked for Ivedent Lloyd jr. dad. From the stories I heard, his heyday was really in the late 60’s to mid 70’s.
Here’s a little tidbit for ya. Back in the day, Jim wanted to run NASCAR. You know, Back when they actually raced? Well any way, NASCAR refused to give him a license because he was COLORBLIND!!! Another thing also, he was good friends with A.J. Foyt. He knew all of the one’s that we NOW consider legendary. I wonder what his life would have been like if he had been able to go run NASCAR.

Rear quarter pannel

Is that Lloyd’s shop on the rear quarter pannel? I think they allways had good motors in the GO Machines.

No, that’s Motor Parts of Ocala on the rear quarter.

Hey Dave, did you ever find out anything about this picture?
