We have two electric race weekends coming up in February. USF in Tampa hosts a double-header on their road course Feb. 14. The following weekend, we are racing at the Battery Beach Blast at FAU in Jupiter.
:ernaehrung004:
Wish we could race both, but just too close together,so let’s try and win the Jupiter FAU race, shoulf be fun seeing all them other zappy cars too.:huepfen024:
Ok, since OJ isn’t around I’ll say it for him…How can you have racing without leaving a giant carbon footprint? Besides isn’t part of racing the roar of the engines?.. and for the record. I didn’t say it didn’t look fun. Just asking the tough questions.
Who gives a damn about about carbon footprints? Not me; I am not a “greenie” by any stretch of the imagination. I’ve always liked electric cars and this group has some really good people involved.
Sure, the roar of engines is nice, but it is not a requirement for a good race. There is no doubt that this is not a substitute for high-powered short trackin’, but I like anyway. It is an interesting design challenge, (I bet you can’t beat us), you better figure out the winning strategy, and we go at it racing bike wheel to racing bike wheel. Its fun, why not come out and check out a race? You can ride to FAU with me.
Rex, are you ONE sanctioning body, and Tampa has another? Or are you both the exact same? What’s the scoop? I had thought that all there was around was the Club/Cars that I had been around; seems as though there are many others, too.
Hey Rex, just make a recoding of engine noise and plug a boom box into your battery. Maybe that would satisfy Haudfan. LOL!
Boneman said “electric car races”, and I was thinking these:

This is currently the largest R/C (radio controlled) racing event in the world, held at the Radisson on US192 in Kissimmee just west of Disney World. Over 800 cars showed up last year, with over 300 individual entries each in the road course and oval divisions.
I’ve been a spectator at the 'Birds the last three years; this will be my first year competing! Been into these R/C things for over 25 years now (thanks, Dad! I know you’ll read this! ;))
Roger, the races that we ran were organized by Jim Robinson (former oval tracker) and were sanctioned by Electrathon, the national organizing group. I know some of the people who are putting on the USF race, but I don’t know a soul at the FAU weekend. I’m sure that some of the same cars will run, but I sure hope we get some new ones on the track too.
Would be glad to assist-----need it?
Ok, in OJ mode again…Are you able to rent the track before the race? Maybe run up a tire bill the night before with extended practice? Do they have reserved parking for the stacker trailers and coaches?..That #3 car looks like its coil bound in the front end… I do like the idea of pre-recorded engine sound. What about something like a Glad plug in with the smell of race methanol?..On a serious note good luck. Looks pretty cool.
We run “spec” engines too. Some are standard spec for the other guys, but since I am in charge of engines, we have the “custom spec” model. Woo hoo!
The truth is we use an old, obsolete motor that one of our competitors gave us. My partners built a superior handling chassis, we run good tires, have a good driver, and while our drive line is nothing fancy, but it is dependable enough to win most of the time.
Brian, I am serious about riding down to the race with me.
Roger, since I am not involved in the organization of either race, why don’t you contact the guys who are? I’ll tell them that you have been one heck of a pit steward at the Titusville races!
