The number one online racing community for the sunshine state of Florida is www.karnac.com. The very popular Internet racing destination is joining up with the Florida Figure 8 Championship presented by the World Figure 8® Racing Tour to provide extra coverage for fans. The series events will be run at the Auburndale Speedway from February 12th to the 15th headlined by the fastest Figure 8 cars on the planet. In all six racing classes will fill the bill during this early season clash.

KARNAC Racing Community is a gathering spot for Florida motorsports coverage past, present, and future. The web page is the hub for many other sites under the KARNAC banner including Florida Stock Car Racing, Georgia Stock Car Racing, Southern Motor Racing, Real Racin USA, and Inside Florida Racing. “We are excited to have an association with the Florida Championships & the World Figure 8 Tour”, said KARNAC founder Jack Smith. “Heading into our second decade of service to the states great fan base, we strive to include all the best of area racing for everyone on the World Wide Web. And through our sites we have plenty of offerings planned for these events during the next month”.

Real Racin USA’s Inside Florida Racing will have either a Figure 8 driver or personality on their show each week leading up to the Auburndale dates. The web site will also broadcast the February 15th campaign finale LIVE on the web. That special Internet offering will begin that evening at 6:30pm. Veteran announcers Rick Anges and Bill Green will call the action and conduct driver interviews. All of these airings will be archived on www.realracinusa.com and will be available on iTunes. The conglomerate of KARNAC pages will also post photos, results, and articles during the four-day festival of speed. These may in addition appear in local print media.

“This connection with KARNAC provides more awesome exposure of this great spectator sport”, exclaimed World Figure 8® Racing Tour personality Donald Walton. “The coverage will give fans that cannot make the journey to Auburndale Speedway a better feel for the battles between North and South drivers”. The Figure 8 events are just the tip of the iceberg in these packed racing programs. V-8 Bombers, Mini Stocks, and Scramblers will compete for Florida championships while the Florida Open Wheel Lites have their own internal point’s battle on the agenda. The Sportsman cars will have a one night challenge on Saturday as well. Look for more announcements over the upcoming weeks.

The Florida Figure 8 Championship is sanctioned by the World Figure 8® Racing Tour. It has dates set for February 12th to the 15th, 2009 at the Auburndale Speedway. Why don’t figure 8’s get the respect they deserve? Its like road racing with a bad attitude. Sure, there is also the intrigue at the “X”, but I really like the left and right turns, and the wide open attitude concerning the rules and cars.

I’ll be making a couple trips over to see the Speedrome guys at Auburndale.

This might be a dumb question but how do you get there from Ocala?

This might be a dumb question but how do you get there from Ocala?

I’m taking my truck but I think a car will work from Ocala. Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer.
Actually Jim, I was looking for directions earlier and had difficulty so it’s not a bad question. I finally found an address (can’t remember where) of 5640 K-Ville Ave., Winter Haven, Fl. I suggest you do a mapquest search of that address for directions.

I was only able to catch the races at Auburndale Speedway once this season, and their local Figure 8 series was running that night (cars look the same/similar as this group). All I can say is WOW… what a show! :ernaehrung004:

This is truly an entertaining deal… even more so (IMHO) than the Figure 8 School Buses that I’ve enjoyed at some of the other tracks. It was amazing to watch those cars lauch off the corners, and shoot through the X. They are much faster than I thought they’d be.

Here’s a great video of the group that’s coming to Auburndale: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0TFvKolL64

Authority

Rick, please tell me that Rodney Davis will have nothing to do with the results of the figure 8 races at Auburndale. He really screwed Joey Catarelli the last race he raced there last year. Let a man race his race the whole 15 or 20 laps and then DQ him because of the other man’s wife yelling and Lisa Catarelli got in trouble for. We even went over to get a sheriff to keep the other drivers wife away from Lisa. Go figure. I know Rick you have been around racing as long as I have and that was a bad call. Tell Rodney Davis to go fly a kite and you will get the figure 8 racers back again. All of them thought that was a bad call and that night there was a bad accident in the fig 8 races and that started all of this crap. At least Lisa wanted to know how the other drivers were. I think the Meyer’s and the Catarelli family respect all figure 8 drivers. Everyone hates a winner!! 2 years in a row champion at Citrus…Good luck with the series…
Joanne Lucas

I thought Auberndale was by the lakeland track {RIP]??

Yes you guys should checkout the Figure 8 series. I’d love to go but I’m many many miles away and can’t take a vacation right now. I’ll just have to wait til April when the figure 8s start up here in Indiana. Wow these guys really do put on a show. We love our figure 8 racing here. The Sportsdrome Speedway is my hometrack and they run what is called Xtreme Winged Figure 8. It’s basicly a limited late model and is cheaper to build than an Outlaw(which is what the WF8T is). It is the main division here and they have a big race for them once a month and the stands are packed while the field is full with 24 to 30 cars.
Anybody know how many locals are going to run in this Florida tour? Not sure how many cars will be traveling down there for this yet. We’re trying to find out some more info. Thanks for your time guys and lets talk some more Figure 8 at race8.com:

VanMeter And White Combo To Tackle Florida Figure 8 Series

World Figure 8? Racing Tour
Indianapolis, Indiana
January 13, 2009

The road to the sunshine state for Figure 8 race competition is beginning to fill with top challengers for the upcoming series at the Auburndale Speedway February 12th to the 15th, 2009. The crossover gladiators from North and South look to mix it up in the short track world?s most exciting division. Heading out of the Hoosier state will be the driving duo of Eddie VanMeter and Casey White. The Billy Skiles owned team has their full focus on the Florida Figure 8 Championship.

Eddie VanMeter is no stranger to success in the Florida area. The second generation racer put himself on the Figure 8 map during the 1996 National tour swing through the state. At the Sunshine Speedway that February 17th, EVM stormed to a stellar victory in the One Hour contest over some tough competition. Another of his resume topping victories was his 100-lap Super Late Model win at the USA International Speedway on January 26, 2006. Eddie held off the advances of short track all-star Eddie Hoffman at the finish line.

VanMeter is coming off his best calendar year on the Figure 8 course. The signature triumph came with his second straight checkered flag in the Jake?s 150 at the Indianapolis Speedrome. His other ?home track? Figure 8 wins came in the North/South 100, Pepsi 100, and the Phyllis Tunny Memorial race. He came away with a career best third place in the final season standings in the Jiffy Lube Late Model series at the Speedrome. Additionally he was also victorious in the Outlaw Figure 8 event at southern Indiana?s Jeffersonville Sportsdrome.

?The Big Cat? Casey White jumped on board driving the second car in the Skiles Country Auto Parts stable in 2008. After many wins over the previous years in the family ride wrenched by his father Reggie, he was tapped to move into the top-level Figure 8 machine. During that campaign he posted four feature wins while challenging for many more. The new combination gave Casey a chance to race outside the friendly confines of the place where he grew up, the Indianapolis Speedrome. His record book has third place finishes for him at the Jeffersonville Outlaw contest and California?s West Coast Figure 8 Finals at the Irwindale Speedway. This has him aching for a victory in Florida.

The Florida Figure 8 Championship is sanctioned by the World Figure 8? Racing Tour. It has dates set for February 12th to the 15th, 2009 at the Auburndale Speedway. These events evolved from the legendary World Figure 8? Championship held each year at the EDCO Welding Indianapolis Speedrome?. The $20,000 to win, 33rd Annual World Figure 8? Championship is September 10th to 12th, 2009.

Gordon Brown 3 Car Team

GORDON BROWN LEADS 3 CAR TEAM INTO FLORIDA CHAMPIONSHIPS

World Figure 8? Racing Tour
Indianapolis, Indiana
January 28, 2009

Veteran sunshine state star Gordon Brown has his three-car race team set to challenge the Figure 8 best February 12th to the 15th, 2009 at the Auburndale Speedway. The coast-to-coast crossover competitor will use his four decades of experience to lead his drivers against Florida?s best as well as the top talent from the northern United States. The only Florida driver to win a Figure 8 at the Indianapolis Speedrome has John LaValle, Seth Nistok, and Michael Cherry in place for the upcoming tour.

Gordon and John were somewhat of the spark for this ?resumption? of a Florida Figure 8 series. While in Indianapolis at last September?s World Figure 8? Championship, the duo talked extensively about the resurgence of the racing at several tracks in the sunshine state. Acknowledgement of this fact was the record seven drivers from Florida taking the challenge in the World event. And thus began the idea for another North vs. South celebration of Figure 8 racing.

Longtime Brown teammate John LaValle is known as the ?Most Hated Driver? in Figure 8 racing. It is a moniker that the veteran driver relishes. The mammoth personality has a heavy right foot when on the track. The speedster has piloted one of the most unique machines in the sport to several victories, but covets his 4th place result in the 2004 World Figure 8? Championship. It was the best ever finish for a Florida driver in the short track classic.

Seth Nistok had some very strong runs during the 2008 season. Several top finishes during the regular campaigns were topped by 4th place cappers at both Auburndale (August 9th) and Citrus County (February 2nd) Speedways. He then had an 11th place result in his rookie World Figure 8? Championship effort after a top five in the qualifying contest. Seth?s hard-charging style is just what the doctor ordered on the daunting Figure 8 course.

19-year-old Michael Cherry is on the roster for NASCAR?s Drive for Diversity program. His three years of instant success at the East Bay Raceway Park and Henry County Speedway landed him a tryout in a NASCAR Camping World series car. In 2007 Cherry captured the Sportsman division championship with an amazing 17 wins in 19 starts. His four Figure 8 starts at Auburndale last year included a feature win on November 1st along with a pair of runner-ups. His father Jimmy formally turned wrenches for veteran John LaValle. He is one of the country?s rising racing stars.
