Why is Ryan Hunter-Reay on INSIDE FLORIDA RACING?

Ryan Hunter-Reay, driver of the Rahal Letterman in the IndyCar Series in 2008, will be a special guest on Inside Florida Racing this Monday night.
Rahal Letterman is co-owned by TV personality David Letterman.

Ryan Hunter-Reay is a former Kart racer, and will appear on IFR as part of the weekly Karting segment, hosted by CeCe Brooks, Rob Elting and Jack Smith.

The economy is affecting racing at every level and the IndyCar teams are no exception. The Rahal Letterman team is currently out of the 2009 season unless it can secure a sponsorship deal.
“Everybody knows about what’s going on in this economy, and things look pretty grim,” team co-owner Bobby Rahal said Thursday. "But we do have some sponsorship on board and what we’re still looking for is a primary sponsor.

Ryan Hunter-Reay finished 6th in the 2008 Indianapolis 500 and won at Watkins Glen.

Inside Florida Racing airs on RealRacinUSA.com every Monday night 7-9 PM and all shows are on ITunes and archived for on-demand listening.

Why is Ryan Hunter-Reay on INSIDE FLORIDA RACING?

That is an easy one; he heard Cece and wants to meet her!

It amazes many that Ryan Hunter-Reay is rideless for 2009 (so far), even though he has won three times in Indy cars, in subpar equipment, and he is a marketable young American driver.

If Ryan ever has the opportunity to drive for Newman-Haas, Ganassi, or Penske, the results could be ugly for the competition.

Can’t wait to hear Ryan on Inside Florida Racing!

Ryan grew up in Florida, and was a force in karting for many years.

Here are some photos of Ryan, from the 2008 Indy Car season.

Sure wish someone would give this guy a good Indy Car Ride.

While this guy was knocking on doors, Milka “Milk Dud” Duno takes her Citgo sponsorship to Newman-Haas for 2009, and buys one of the best seats in Indy Car racing…

And, when “Sideways Sam” Hornish loses his Nextel Cup Ride in the coming weeks, I’m sure that will take away one more possible seat for Ryan.

Three wins… it should mean something to an Indy Car owner…

The Inside Florida Racing guest appearance “bump” is VERY MUCH ALIVE!!!

After appearing on the IFR show a few weeks ago, with no ride for 2009,
Florida’s own Ryan Hunter-Reay just finished SECOND in the St. Petersburg Gran Prix, and he was all over Ryan Briscoe in the closing laps for the win!

IMHO, it’s one of the best stories in Indy Car Racing in a long, long time.

Ryan was signed by Vision Racing Team less than one week ago. The team didn’t even have a second team, or intentions to even run a second team, in 2009 (their primary driver is Ed Carpenter) until last week. The car they showed up with on Friday for Ryan had been sitting in the corner of their shop, untouched, since the 2008 season finale.

Vision Racing didn’t even have a full crew for Ryan until they arrived on Friday. Prior to Sunday’s race, the group they accumulated hadn’t done even one “live” pit stop together.

Ryan started 14th today, but slowly moved forward all day. And, this wasn’t a fluke… most of the heavy hitters in Indy Car racing were still on track at the end. It was the best finish ever, for Vision Racing.

An amazing, and inspirational story, for all racers!!!
