Attention All Open Wheel Modified

Saturday Night April 4th at Auburndale Speedway
40 Lap Open Wheel Modified Spectacular.
Any questions call Rex @863-287-4344

I thought CCMP, Citrus, and Auburndale were working together. CCMP has a 50 lap owm race the same night. You might want to change that.

Florida short tracks working together . What a novel idea . No they aren’t , no they won’t , they never have , they never will . Unless its to try to drive another track out of business . Some of the more easily fooled track owners believe they are part of a group that will work for the betterment of all short track racing in Florida . They always learn the hard way .

The tracks are 100 miles apart

Obviously the two of you don’t own a business.

No wait…i get it now…your concerned only with YOUR needs.

Well , there you are plmfst20 , Benny says everything is okay . There can’t be anything wrong with splitting 25 viable entries into 2 tracks on the same night . We just need to be content with 12 or 15 car shows instead of being greedy and expecting that maybe all 35 possible cars would show up at each track , just on different nights .

Benny I don’t know you and you don’t know me, but it does not have anything to do about my needs. It is just interesting that I see Rex at ccmp on Sunday to watch the races and sees 17 owm and now they are having a 40 lap race on the same day as our 50 lap. You don’t need to own a business to realize that if you want to get as many cars as you can don’t come out of the blue and schedule a big race the same day as another track.

Yes, you could be right about the way the last minuite schedule came up.

I should have written my responce different.

I wanted to point out that both tracks are in business to make money.

Plus it take fans owners and drivers to make it work.

I hope i don’t have to see any more tracks close.

i ain’t taking sides with any one on modifieds

but being as how charlotte county has been have so many sunday races why don’t he have his race on april fifth the next day .

he still has plenty of time to announce it throw in some late models or sprints maybee some figure eights or street stocks

                     can't we just get along

seems to me it would be around four weeks by then since auburndale had modified race

i sure would not want it to come down to just racing modifieds at auburndale ever week if so i bet they would have a full field if they raced them ever week cause there are a lot of them around polk county area

keep up good work rex you got it going on

Thanks for your concerns!!! We are in communication with each other!!!

[SIZE=“3”]Thanks for your input and concerns. But, we are talking over date changes or additions. Thing Happen. Yes, it is a business. And sometimes we need to add races or delete them. I spoke with Don from Citrus and Rex this morning. In the beginning of the 2009 Season we sat down and made the schedules. The Late Models, Sportsman, OWM are the divisions that we focus on. They wanted to race once a month with the LM, OWM, and the Sportsman are the same rule package between Auburndale and CCMP (both racing 2 a month). There are 5 new Open Wheels Modifieds in the Auburndale area. They want to race more than once a month. We decided that the weekend of 4-4-09 would be the least effect on all concerned. CCMP will be starting the New "Q Auto & Injury Attorneys OWM Division. We will be announcing the Sponsorship details shortly. So needing to support his own racers (they are from his area with their Family’s and Sponsors can see them) Rex ask if it would be OK. Of course we all need to work together (Auburndale, CCMP and Citrus). We all three are discussing Scheduling Special Events with the Dwarfs, Sportsman, FASTRUCKs, OWM and others. So thanks for your input. And we will keep you informed about the future. Everything is working just fine.
Please support your local Short Track.

hmmmmmmmmm

i USED to think tracks were working together. i have learned alot and the best thing any track owner can do is concentrate on his own track and hope that their track is the most appealing to the drivers…these schedules should have been decided months ago, discussed with the drivers or series promoters and left alone…
i do agree that if there are 35-40 OWM drivers that half of them can race at one track and the other half at another. 20 OWM is usually a real good show! i have seen full fields of mods race on these smaller tracks and most of the time it is a huge crash fest…they didnt do too bad at Lakeland… i also think the Open Wheel Modified races are some of the most exciting. they probably also take the most risks… i think we need to promote them in a big way!

ive talked to alot of OWM guys and they do NOT want to race every week. they cant afford to! doesnt anyone get it? it isnt always about the track. it is about what the drivers can do in tough times. these arent NASCAR guys. they are regular hard working guys with families to support and for most of them, racing is a fun hobby. a very expensive hobby. they basically pay themselves to entertain us!

as for Sunday racing… i will never go to another. its too darned hot and very very seldom do many fans show up…families need to be together at least one day a week. just my opinion.

by the way… tho i help Jack with the radio schedules i do not work for him so i dont have to follow the media protocol which is based on facts rather than emotion… my opinions are strictly my own and i understand that i am not always correct in my thinking. but i AM honest.

Realracinusa, karnac, ccmp do not pay me and they are in no way responsible for what i say on these boards. my posts are 100% my thoughts… right or wrong i have the right to express them. the one thing we do agree on is that we want all tracks to survive and we support the drivers in every way we can.
as for tracks “working together”… that is a joke and 1/2 !!! the darned schedules should have all been worked out months ago. and left alone! if each track owner took care of his own business then i think things would run so much smoother. why on earth would a competitor look out for another. thats as silly as thinking Wayne Jefferson would drop back and let Tony Carreno win! NOT! Each have to earn their success!

Racing is a tough business… the nicest of people crumble from the pressures. we need to be supportive and sometimes being supportive doesnt mean agreeing. the truth is the best way to do that and unfortunately egos more often than not get in the way of truth.
thank you…

Bobby - I think it’s great that Citrus, Auburndale and CCMP are trying to match their rules.

I wanted to offer an idea that crossed my mind… As I’m sure many race fans remember, Florida used to have a Florida Triple Crown, for the SLM’s, that would contain one race at three different tracks. I remember going to the small Lakeland Track, Auburndale, Sunshine Speedway and DSS during different seasons, to catch a few of the races. In the last few years of it’s existence, I remember seeing Butch Miller, Jason Keller, Stanley Smith, Robbie Reiser, etc.

I think it would be great if the 3 tracks could bring the Florida Triple Crown Championship back to life, for maybe three classes: the OWMs, Trucks and Late Model Series. They could each run one race, at each of the 3 tracks, throughout the year. And, each of the tracks could host the finale of one of the 3 classes each year, with it rotating annually (e.g. CCMP might host the OWM finale this year, with the Trucks in 2010, and the Late Models in 2011).

In this economy, short series (only 3 races) might be very attractive to teams, who can’t afford to chase points throughout an entire season at one track. Just my thoughts.

Thanks for everything you doing to keep racing alive!
