This will be a historic weekend at Orlando Speedworld! I got a little choked up when I saw the banner on KARNAC with the advertisement for the Orange Blossom! I remember as a kid going to see this race at Palm Beach Fairgrounds Speedway and what a GREAT event it always seemed to be!
I really hope the drivers and fans get out to support this show and make it the show that it should be!
I will be there in spirit, but due to a really busy schedule here can not be there in person…BUT my heart WILL be at OSW this Friday!!
Since day one Rusty has been a class-act… he was EXTREMELY instrumental in not only bringing this race back… but also the Marion Edwards Memorial…
It does kinda suck that he won’t be here in person to take part in the festivities… but he definitely deserves a ton of credit for all the work he has done behind the scenes… [even from Louisiana]…
Rusty is one of the good guys and always wanted that race back at Orlando. Hopefully I will do it justice Friday for Jack since I am writing it for karnac. And if there are others at the track like Rusty and remember the good old days and when it was at the fairgrounds, please find me. I would love to get some of your memories for the story. Or e-mail me RacingJLS@aol.com and send me your memories of this race.
Actually FASCAR brought back the OB 100 for several years at New Smyrna, then it became the Pete Orr Memorial-Orange Blossom 100 for three years before the Pete Orr race was moved to the World Series in 2006…
