We started the night out with 7 cars in the pits. The cars of Styner and Elder were still missing. Unfortunately, the #26 of Ted Durfee had motor issues again in warm-ups, as did the #33 of Kenny Busch.
In the heat race, it was #7 Jamie Barnum and #30 Mike Belusar on the front row. Belusar would go on to win the heat.
Feature time came and it was Barnum and Belusar on the front row again. Barnum would jump the start and have to try again. On the second start, Belusar would take command early with Barnum right on his tail tank. Jack Duffy was running third with Ray Smith and Jay Stutz closing in. Smith would spin coming out of turn one on lap 5. On the restart, Barnum would try to sneak by Belusar going into one. Belusar held his postion as the battle for third would heat up between Duffy and Stutz. Smith made his way back up to join the fight for third as Belusar and Barnum would battle nose-to-tail for the lead. Barnum tried high and low to find a way around Belusar. As the closing laps came, Belusar and Barnum would not give-up. As the leaders battled…Duffy, Stutz and Smith caught up and at times made it three wide. Duffy would find a way around Barnum for the runner-up spot. As they crossed the checkered flags, Belusar would take the win with Duffy, Barnum,Stutz and Smith finishing the order. Great race guys!!! Congrats to Mike on the win.
We hope to see all of the fans out at the track and don’t forget…on May 9, 2009 @ Charlotte County Motorsports Park is the 1st Annual " Fast " Freddie Stutz Memorial!
We have a few PAST drivers that have said they are going to bring a car out for this Memorial race. Who could show up???
