The death of Eddie Brann has brought tears to many eyes… but none like the tears of his loving wife Barbie and their young daughter Alyssa. They will need help…
I received a call this morning asking that a very special thank you go to you and your staff for allowing some of Eddies friends to take some time during intermission to collect for his wife and child.
It is times like this that we all put our personal feelings aside and do what’s right for a fellow human being. This is one of those times and your kindness is really appreciated … Thank you Rex and staff at Auburndale Speedway…
Friends of Eddie Brann…
REX !!! wow… what a response!
I just got a call from Tony Carreno about the generosity of Rex Guy and the drivers and fans at Auburndale… I can’t help but think of how Eddie Brann must feel looking down and seeing all the people who loved him and all the things being done to help his wife and child… he was a humble hard worker and I think the responses are overwhelming!!!
Troy Robinson and Tony Carreno walked thru the pits and easily collected $401.00… The mod racers were given time by Rex to collect on track and they got $534.00… then on top of that Rex donated half of the 50/50 money!!! The total collected was $1,054.00…
Tony said “it was phenominal!”
All the drivers sported an Eddie Brann sticker on their cars. They supported every effort to remember Eddie and to help his wife…
Tony has also sold alot of laps for the first annual Eddie Brann Memorial race… If you want a special # make sure you call. With 75 laps they go fast. Just want you guys to know #14 is mine!!!
Call Tony at 813-267-3710 or send checks to him at:
Tony Carreno
602 Duque Road
Lutz, Fl. 33549
Please make the checks out to T. Carreno or Cash and write in the menu slot Donation in memory of Eddie Brann, so it will be easier for him to get one large check to Barbie… Several tracks and people are donating and Tony has been kind enough to make sure every penny is accounted for.
I will ask Jack to give me a sticky at the top of this forum for UPDATES!!!
Rex!!! Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness… it will always be remembered. God bless you and all who are doing this in Eddie’s name.
carol wicks ( I bet you never thought this would happen huh) Life is too short…
It was nice of Rex to let them do this. I wish all the other tracks in Fl. would have done it. It doesn’t cost them a thing and can be done at intermission like Auburndale did.
Theres alot going on Rick…
CCMP had their first of 5 collections this week. Desoto had a great collection and HUGE things are going to happen at Citrus… its a recent tragedy. People have to get their plans in order… racing people are kind and generous when times get tough.
carol
rex is that kind of guy one of a kind
not only did he give from the heart he made sure that ever open wheel was on the track at intermission cause we had our car on jack stands putting tires on it and he came by three times to make sure ever one was on track
when they were suppose to be i think an atta boy should go out to ever one that came to funeral and showed there respect all that gave and all the fans all race track owners - and to tony careno and all the open wheel modified drivers
barbie and alyssa and all of eddies sister and family and friends he left a big empty spot that only time will heal some of pain .rest in piece eddie and while you are up there in heaven keep us safe while racers race and children play
and rest of us are watchin the cars you made go really fast :engel016::engel016:
Ron…
sorry i missed you at the services. It was hard to find anyone because the church was packed! The parking lot was packed and the halls were packed. There is no doubt that Eddie was loved beyond measure.
Yes… Tony Carreno is special… his heart is HUGE!!! He has spearheaded every effort to honor Eddie Brann… He has called me every day at least twice with ideas and requests…There are several people working in the back ground doing things. It never ceases to amaze me how much this humble man has made such an impact in the racing community. It is a great loss to those who knew him but the memories will linger and the lessons learned will always benefit. He will not be forgotten.
We need to keep Barbie and her family in our hearts also. Eddie would have wanted that more than anything.
I hope we will have a good crowd for the ASA and OWM races this weekend at CCMP… Hope you attend. If so I will see you in the back corner where Tony, Wayne, and Sean park…
God bless…
