For several years every time I went out of town I would look for a local short track to visit. Now I am having a very difficult time finding one that is still open. I am going to Pigeon Forge next month and have been looking on Chasinracin.com and most tracks that are not closed for good are closed for the season. Some that claim to still be open do not have websites or working phone numbers, however they are BYOB. As much as I would love to, I cannot see myself making the four hour journey through the mountains to Charlotte for the Woo races then making it back it time the next day.
Does anybody know how accurate Chasinracin is or if there are any other tracks that might be running?
ED, Bristol is probably closer, but I am not sure they are open in Nov or not. We used to go to Pidgeon forge every year in Oct. The only tracks I went to were Bristol and a little track in Ga on the way up. I can’t think of the name of it ridgt now, but its a 3/8 mile dirt track. We used to get together with family and rent a chalett in the mountains above Pidgeon Forge. It is beautiful this time of the year. Bob…
Ed, I just remembered theres a 3/8 mile track in Kingsport Tenn. Thats about maybe 100 miles from Pidgeon Forge. I have family up there. I’ll call my cousin tonight and see if they will be open next month. I’ll have to wait till he gets off work to call. He spends a lot of time there and at Bristol. I’ll let you know. Bob…
edm go to google then don’t put nothing in but
race tracks in tenn no www or nothing and it will give you ever race track in tenn aspt- dirt - drag strip pick out the ones you want :ernaehrung004:
are closed for the season.
there’s your problem, right there. you’ve left this for too late in the year, especially for a mountainous area.
don’t know about Tennessee specifically, but i know that northern Indiana is usually getting it’s first frost of the year before Halloween.
Slinger, WI shut down Sept 20.
New Paris, IN shut down Sept 26.
regular schedule at K-zoo Michigan was done Sept 5.
Mottville is going to run to the end of October, but they’re a bunch of nutjobs from way back:

Ed, I just talked to a friend in Tenn and the track in kingsport races their last race Oct 21 -22 some kind of national dirt series. The 411 speedway in Knoxville races this week end and next week end and they are done. He said the weather is the factor. It is 51 degrees at the track now and it’ll be high 30’s low 40’s tonight. I don’t suppose many fans are willing to sit in that kinda weather. He said the Volunteer Speedway is looking to put together a show the first week in Nov. but they aren’t sure yet. As you can see they aren’t afraid to put on a show in the middle of the week. Bob…
Check Mountain Speedway (dirt) in Maryville,Tn. also Baxter Speedway (dirt) or 411 Speedway (assfault) near Maryville. These tracks are much closer to Pigeon Forge than Bristol or Bulls Gap and they all have websites.
Ed,
Joe is pretty good knowing his stuff so I would check those out. I also use whowon.com and click on Tennessee. They have alot of website listed for the tracks and I also use them as well as chasinracin. Hope you find one that is open since they are getting cold there and they are shutting down tracks now. But whatever you do, have fun and have a safe trip.
Jane
Ed - I looked up the 3 tracks Joe listed and 411 ends their season on October 24th with the 3rd Annual O’Reillys National Steelhead Championships - All Divisions
Mountain Speedway ended their season in September and could not find anything on Baxter Speedway at all. Hope that helps.
But if you are going to be there in November, if you are going next month, I am afraid sweetie you are out of luck. By then they could have snow or something like it and all tracks are closed. But it will be nice weather for Dollywood.
I think Dollywood closes the first of Nov. They have their fall festival in Oct and then close I think. we used to spend a week there every Oct. They have gospel music all month in Oct. The whole town is decorated for fall. Bob…
Hey Ed… Let me look for a couple over in NC and SC… I can’t remember when exactly they closed… There used to be a bunch over there so…
Baxter speedway is called Tennessee Motor Speedway. My cousin owned the track for awhile. They are definitely not running in November. The track would have to be 3 hours from Pigeon Forge.
