Many of the race track scenes for the movie were filmed at Golden Gate Speedway… Gordon Solie also had a cameo in it… I saw it once and for a low-budget flick, it wasn’t bad…
Some of the fiming was done at Clearwater Airport area and I believe Dade City. There were some scenes shot at Speed Specalties in St.Pete, where my dad, Jack Arnold, Jim Alvis, Bucky Zeigler and James Nelson worked. Jim Gulley was one of the main stunt drivers. One of the cars in the movie, which wasn’t a completely finished racecar became my first racecar. It wasn’t a good movie, but was very cool to see local racers in cameo roles.
Jimmy where did you find this movie? I remember when it was flimed but I never saw it. I’d like to get a copy. I did a search for JUMP and got several results but none of them were it. Thanks Bob…
Thanks Mike I’ll see where I can find it. I too love old racing books and movies’ I am reading a book now called turn 4. I just started it this morning and it seem good. Its about our Fav sport so how can it be bad.
There are several VHS copies for sale on Amazon.com
Speaking of racing movies, did you guys know that Bobby Brack was a stunt driving double, and extra in several racing films, such as “Fireball 500”, “Wild Rebels”, and “The Checkered Flag”
because they had about 20 cars out there that afternoon and jordon solie was there the part i remember was at golden gate
and tom ligon was the movie star and they had a big fat guy with black hair was an actor and jim gully looked so much like tom ligon that he did most of the driving ;;
they had ligon line up with us and we were not suppose to go real fast and they kept starting and stoping the cars johnny hicks was flag man and i think red graves or art moody was flagging on front straightway
then movie star was in the car and we came down front straight a way not real fast 3 or 4 laps then gully got in car then we got faster we had super sixes and late models
i think we were there 5-6 hours they sent us check 5 months later
