if no takers–

And anyone doesn’t want to purchase them from you, the Special Olympics Foundation would be glad to take them off your hands, and they’ll come to your house to get them.

They would be more than gracious for them, and you can deduct that as a Tax deduction for yourself.

I did that a few years back, 17 Swimming trophies, 6 Track & Field event trophies, 2 Baseball trophies, and 2 Bowling trophies----all from my teenage years. They no longer held an interest for me at my age now, and the Special Olympics will convert them as needed into for their participants.

Dave41, where are these trophies from? I might be interested.

63 trophies x $1000. = $63000. 1/3 the price = $21000. You can buy alot fuel and tires for that… Hope there is a few 6 footers in the group.

dave i only payed 37.00 for them the first time
HA HA!!!
mostof them 3rds they were 19.00
how do u like me now
Don 62

don

just showing track owners what we spend to put on their show. weeks with no trophy money still spent. owners got most of it. greed is big problem in racing.

Oh I see where this is going. If you are in racing to expect you’ll make money, or hell, break even then you need to find another hobby. I can tell you i have two drag cars, a 275 drag radial car and a true stock suspension car and there’s no way I’ll ever even come close to breaking even if I won every race I went to in 2010! What money I do win goes right back into the cars. It’s my bad habit, my hobby, whatever.

I could be drinking it up or putting it up my nose, but I choose to race, so whatever comes with that I have to except. If i feel a race promoter or racing organization has done me wrong then I don’t go back, simple as that. It’s an easy fix, either find a different venue or find something else to do.

SOMEONE finally figured it out, RACING IS A HOBBY you do it for fun and competition.

now now wait a minute many moons ago

i have not all ways messed with stock cars - but i can remember when real late at night just out of hollywood fla they had some rich kids with pocket full money

and they would get there mom or dads car and come out by two lane in woods we made good money with our ratty looking 49 tru 55 fords and chevys with big block chryslers with two fours or olds or caddy motors in them

have you ever seen a 1957 chrysler with two fours sitting in 19 49 rocket 88 olds with 610 final gear

running against rich kids stock grocery hauler them was days only thing wrong with our cars they did not stop good and was hard to keep straight

eaters

392 chrysler in 57 savoy . sitting idle just pinging. wanting to eat chevy’ s . could not race chevy’s on week end and drive them to work next week. ron used to park beside us at auburndale. though he would have heart attack one hot night ,got so pissed never again at this sh! T HOLE. I THINK 1994

we said that in 69…76…79…80 82. In 82 Ron was there .we got a racetrack o boy the car was cheaper and lots more fun
when u don?t win or run out of cash it everyone?s fault but yours. That is the way I was and most of the people that want to win. If you last long enough to learn that the tracks don?t get to keep any of the money u spend you wont blame them. Greed? Tracks? They are trying to break even. I spent every thing ill ever have on tacks for the love of the sport, live on SS check and still listen to you all cry about the track that took all your money.

Get rich fast
sell your house and business buy a track
it ok everyone will hate u next year but you will make big bags of cash.
ware will I hide all those bags?

Brown it your fault
Don 62

And on the other side of the coin how many organizations and race tracks have you run in the ground Don? I go all the way back to the early USA days with you, I’m not impressed and believe me, I’m not the only one that feels that way.
I kind of wish in some instances you could have handled things differently because as a person your a cool guy, but as someone involved in the sport the way you have been it ruined ya.

Yep i killed all of them.
don62

don

do you think every one belives you only trade dollar for dollar , no profit

No dave we all got ritch and are still spinding the money.
not counting Dan jones who as a track owner quit with any money?
ill start the list of the ones that didnt

1 Tom stimas

your turn

Don 62

Yeah, like Stimus is a good example! Normally tracks don’t give away new cars, diamond rings, cruises, ect. plus have what, two of his own cars that I know for a fact weren’t legal, but that’s another thread all together. Generally when you do all the things Stimus did to make him look like a rock star…ahem… you won’t last long. Your move Don.

Jeff 98ROCK

Then u pick the one that made good money. i can only think of one.

Give iy a try

Don62

Jeff
Start with Desoto speedway and every owner in the past as loseing money.
Tom was the worst but every one liked him for a wile.

And everyone liked you…for awhile, lol, just kidding,The owner after Tom was an idiot, The people that own Orlando and New Symrna( HARTS) have had ownership forever not including the money they make from leasing the dragstrip so I’m sure they’re making bank. The hills made a killing off Sunshine and then sold it for another killing. BTW Don, whatever happened to St. Augustine?

JEFF 98ROCK

the owner after tom was Mesick I know I spelled it wrong.
He was a owner of a few car auctions. lost big money before tom was Margie nanny. She got it from the original owners Gean thorp.
. Try to get any of them to a track now. they all lost money.
Hills didn?t make any money at the track or it would still be there.
they inherited the speedway from family. they made out on the sale.
Dan Jones was there for years when Musgrave was alive and they made good money. Dan went from there to Inverness and did real good there.
the only one that I know of that made good money in this business was Dan. Its a hobby for the track owner to. he is trying to survive also and people like u don?t help talking about things u know nothing about.
St Augustine did ok whale I was there. liked it. Got fired for the first time. the owner wanted more. he ran it himself one year. gave it back to RJ.
Come on every one lets rember owners now.
Make a list.

could tell u more but u wouldn?t get it
Jeff 98?
