Sitting here in my office this morning listening to the cars testing at DIS… Good to hear the sound of cars on the track again!
Had my K-Car out for testing yesterday - It’s the official test vehicle for Yamamoto Tire Co. - and had a quick lap of 62.765 MPH… Jeff Gordon jumped in the thing and ran just over 65!!!
I was just looking at some photos from the test session. I notice the cars have a fairly large antenna mounted on the front of their roof. Any idea what that’s about?
I’m pretty sure those antennas are for testing purposes only. The teams have all sorts of onboard telemetry and sensors. Reads air flow and pressure, load ratings and travels. Sort of looks like a indy car pit area during testing. NASCAR has had gps on all 3 major series for at least 4 to 5 years as well. Its the green dot you see in the windshield. towing is the company that makes it.
