IN the recent days the only pavement race during speed weeks being held at citrus county speedway was cancelled. it was very depressing news. ive made a few calls in the last 24 hours and i have 13 confirmed drivers as of right now 1 week away. i really dont understand the problem with the purse… $4500 is being put up by citrus an additional $1000 has been added making the purse $5500 as it stands right now… it will pay $1000 to win with the rest of the payout to be posted this week. I know that there is alot of owners and drivers that refuse not to run for that purse, but if they do that will be the purse that they race for forever. people, have you looked in the stands lately when youve been at a short track… DUH! There not packed, hell you wonder how some can even afford to pay the light bill. bring the Cars, Bring the Fans, The purse will increase with time! Be part of the solution, Not the Problem. This is probably one of the last asphault races that you will see for awhile. This is a non sanctioned race! No memberships No Dues No USAC hard cards Just straight up lets get it on Racing!
THE RACE HAS NOT BEEN CANCELLED THE RACE IS FEBRUARY 5TH CITRUS COUNTY SPEEDWAY!

Now is when you find out if there are any Sprint fans left.
Get in your car and find 3 friends and go to the race. Buy a ticket and enjoy the race and before u leave tell someone thanks for having it and they will say thanks for comeing and away we go on a new eara of short track open wheel racing. All the other tracks will hear about and have to do it to keep up uith the jones. Sprint drivers and owners the same goes for you. Get your car out of the shop and load it up and go. The fans dont care who did what to whom. They want to see a full field. Dont care about tires at this race. You will need 4 on the car. Purse? Who cares for this race. If you get a lot of fans and cars then ask and you will receive for the next race. Some one has to go first and it your turn.
Show your suport or sell your junk and buy a boat.
Allways wanted to say that!!!

Openwheel fan
I will be the first to Congratulate Tony for making this a go ahead and trying to make something happen when it seems like the end is near… I would also like to thank Citrus for working with them to go ahead with the race…
Congrats on the hard work and I know all things will work out for this and future races…
You gotta know Duane, Tony has a sprint in his shop that he is itching to race. I don’t blame him for that. I really hope they can work this out I love to watch the sprints race. Bob…
We have obtained a Hard Charger award of $200 plus an additional $100 if someone elects to go to start in the rear and win. It will pay $1300 to win… this award has been put up by Robinson and Son Coal from Rousseau, Kentucky. We also have obtained a $250 sponsorship that will be divided into two $125 bonuses. Whoever wins the race will draw a pill example 8-12 that car number that is drawn will recieve that bonus… the other $125 will be a number drawn from car 12 through the rest of the pack. this is just an incentive to try to help the cars that finish further in the field. We also have a $100 bonus for the car that can win the heat and the feature. So if a car can win the heat, feature, hard charger, and start in the rear and win the payout is $1400. We also have a fuel man Nick Manikis that will be there selling fuel for $3.00 a gal plus tax. we would like to encourage the drivers participating to purchase fuel from Nick so it will make it worth his while to come. We also have an additional sponsor that we are having a meeting with monday morning. keep your finger crossed. we have 15 cars committed at this time. i originally said that i would post a driver lineup. that has changed due to the hostility that is happening… so if you want to know who is coming buy a ticket and support the race.
In closing i would like to tell you about when i was a yongster 12-13 years old… long time ago… my neighbor at the time was jack arnold he had a couple of race cars… a late model and a sprinter. Thats when the gate ran friday and saturday nights do you remember that don62? i was amazed at that young age watching drivers like scarborough, brazil, the smiths, childers, butler, and the many others… putting a show on that i would say payed $350 to win back then. i still say to this day that those men would have raced for a six pack of beer and a trophy, it wasnt all about the money. people i know that the times have changed, but the cars basically look like they did 30 years ago…the problem is the motors… $30,000-$40,000. Westmar, Yates, Klein, but i ask the question why do you need that much motor in a non wing car? Pull them guns out and save them for a big TBARA race and support that club, and put together a steel headed motor for alot less. If the top gun sprints can run carb, steel heads or optional fuel injection and put on a hell of a show. why cant it be done on the asphault? There is alot of great ideas out there from drivers, fans and all of the people that own these websites. When Robby Smith and i shared a shop together years ago… the TBARA i believe ran dirt and asphault combined, very few of those drivers had two cars. i know robby only had one and he could swap some things around on that car and be very competitive on dirt and asphault. So any of you dirt guys out there that dont have anything going on this weekend… throw some tires on and come have some fun. GOD BLESS!
The sad thing is that in 1981 i Payed $1,000 to win the sprint and $1,000 to win the Lates at Golden Gate Speedway for 25 laps. It took me 2 1/2 years to go broke.
Still love Sprint Racing. The track cant fund it. We the fans can. see you there. Go buy a ticket i will!!
Its ok to post and say im comeing to the race . Yes im a Sprint Racing Fan!!!
Good News… additional sponsors today for the Sprints at Citrus County! S&R Craine $300, Circle C’s Ranch $200… THANK YOU!! Now we will get off onto something else. If the cost of racing has sky rocketed and the purse doesnt seem to be feasable to run for WHy not reduce the cost of your racing. Craig, crate motors is a great idea, could it be a 5K crate motor or could it be a 15k crate motor. Well, less than the 30k, you could be onto something craig! Last Thursday and we and my buddys said we were going to get together and have a dig WE started calling people to come to support the race, they said it was ALL GOOD! 12 hours later some changed their minds… i call it back steppin’ kinda like two steppin’… the purse was just TOO LOW, the track wasnt putting all of the purse up, they told US DONT DO IT! It wouldnt work, you know what… that JUST seems to MOTIVATE a RACER MORE! Your right BFR, WE may not be here to help the next race like we did this one, but WE PROVED a point IT CAN BE DONE! As someone stated earlier “SELF PROMOTION” the ideas are endless, Whatever it takes! By the way the purse is $6400 at this time not including tire sponsor support and i believe it is around $400 at this time but dont crusify me on it. haha THAT means if my 9th grade education was correct our purse is around $6800 at this time. Oh and by the way… that doesnt count extra car count money, its only Monday.
Craig to answer your question the purse for the last wingless club at citrus was 6100.00 with the race track puttin up $4500 thats funny. nobody had a problem running for that purse then this race feb 5th at citrus county had included that already. point being made the purse can be whatever the drivers want it to be … promote yourself or like OLD SCHOOL said come back down to EARTH, and get over those endless Egos… WINGER thanks for the support and kind words, as far as some of the FLACK from some people i think its great we have them thinkin and thats what counts. Straitup where the heck you been. you kno i would rather be pissed off than pissed on. NO! dont worry about me, i aint startin no serious! Plenty of them already out there, ran by GREAT PEOPLE, they just need to get together and work out there problems and differences. Some MORE GOOD NEWS! Ronnie Deschamps trucking long time friend and great racer, one the sea fest long time ago… and also a long time sponsor of circle c raceway. $150 dollars! the Circle C Speedway is a totally different spread coming soon heat race … http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkoHCpXHNhI
Feature http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KydEhb-u8Y and oh by the way the comment about rex was just good humor! love ya rex we will be over there soon to get the new body on the modified signed. RENTALEX BOB for all your equipment needs $100. and last but not least for the day Northside Propane, thanks BOB GRATTON, long time sprint car supporter and owner! it means alot. so far we have a $6850 purse PLUS the $400 tire money, which i think will put us $7k PLUS!
I don’t understand why the guys would complain about the purse you are paying. Last year we took a trip to Bowman Gray Stadium to watch the modifieds from the MADHOUSE tv show. We got a program while we was there and it listed what the pay-out was. These cars are 50 -60 thousand dollar race cars and here is there pay-out. A normal night of twin 25’s its $650 to win the first 25 and $550 to win the 2nd 25. 50 lappers paid $1000 to win and 100 lappers paid $2000 to win. There were and always are 20 - 30 of these every Saturday. A Sprint car can’t cost anymore than a modified like these guys run and these guys don’t have a problem racing for the kind of purse I listed so why would Sprint car drivers complain about a possible $1400 to win a what 35 lap feature.
Every man, woman and child that is a fan of pavement sprint car racing really, really needs to pay their way into the stands for this race if we want to see sprint cars back at Citrus County this year.
I got some disturbing news today, i was informed on another racing website out there, that i was a skab, i was ruining sprint car racing in florida, and i was a backstabber. Let me explain something real quick, i have been a long time supporter of racing my entire life, at the age of 46 i purchased my first racecar, an open wheel modified. I guess it took that long to get enough balls to drive one. when the racing community lost one of its family EDDIE BRANN, me and my open wheel modified family and the racing community joined together as one to raise over $20,000 in two years! When carol wicks aka oz or mama karnac one of my closest friends called me and told me JACK SMITH was diagnosed with cancer me and my OPEN WHEEL MODIFIED FAMILY and the racing community came together as one to help raise money for a family that was going through a tough time. Kudos to rick bristol and what he also did for the family’s and jack this year. YOUR THE MAN! When the long time voice of citrus county speedway Larry McMillan passed away ME AND MY MODIFIED FAMILY with the racing community came together to pay TRIBUTE. So i guess what some people think that if you run and INDEPENDANT ASSOCIATION as my modified family does, your a scab? So for those of you out there that think that im a back stabber, scab, and ruining racing… i will take a quote from OCALA76 “YOU TRUELY ARE A MOOORRRROOOONNNNN!” OK, lets get on to something else…

Tony… if you are a scab, you are the finest scab in short track racing!!! I have met many hundreds of racers over the years and i have yet to find one who compares to you. You give your heart and soul, not only as a racer, but a man! Your heart is made of gold!
I am so damn proud to be your friend ! So proud… when the chips are down, you deal a hand no one can beat! I love you… i love what you do for racers and fans…and racing in general! you make things exciting. when you say you are going to do something…it happens!:ernaehrung004:

Carol, aka OZ, aka Mommy…
p.s.
ya spelled scab wrong!!! tsk tsk
I don’t understand what you are doing that is so wrong. 1. Your giving them a place to race. 2. You have a very fair purse. 3. Your breaking your back to put this race on when you really didn’t have to. What is the problem?
To #%*# with what other people have to say. Most of us no what you do and how you are. You didnt NEED to get involved at all. Nor did you have to promote the last three big mod races. If these people had something bad to say they should be BIG enouph to post it here. As i told you at two in the morning driving home from the Brann race . THANK YOU , OK with that all said can i drive your sprint car lol…The KMA race team will try to be there to support the sprint race. Thanks again tony for gettin involved and making the calls that support racing. DOUG MILLER
Tony…I do not know you but THANKS for stepping up! I do not get on any other sites, not sure why someone would have a beef with what you are doing! It will take everyone to make racing GREAT again! Right, wrong or indifferent at least you are trying!
Thank You!
