Gears

First, what motor are u running? 2000, 2300 ??? FWD or RWD because I just ran desoto with a 558 final 2300 motor in a RWD and only turned about 7000 RPM. Turned 17.0 and that was running in 4th gear. I felt like I had nothing coming out of the turns. Going to try a 637 and see how that feels. I have a 543 that came from NSS. if that helps.

727 at desoto with a dodge??? wow!!!
were running dodges, i ran my 558 at desoto sat night at desoto, and turned 7100, thats about all you really want turn a dodge. you can get away with a little more, but i wouldnt. i finished 3rd, and led a little. 727 is way to much.
you need to find out what trans that is… you may be able to run 3rd or 4th at nss.
ive never heard of a 727 but the 740 can be run in 3rd and that will give you a 506, and thats what i was told to use at nss.

well Im running a a555 trans with a 385 ring gear and by minimopar 2 gear on that trans is a 1.89 ratio so 385x1.89 = 727 thats how I find the final ratio right also what size track is desoto at volusia speedway I was told to run around a 580 and thats a 1/2 mile

thier calling desoto 3/8 center and a 1/2 outside groove. im just saying that alot of gear. ive got good stuff and if we ran more than what we are it wouldnt live. the best thing to would be hunt down robbie. and ask him he’ll tell you the truth.

yea Iv tryed I dont want to blow up the motor I let off going in the turn at 7000-7200 rpm. did you ever get a trans?

no i havent!!! that trans you have, you would be better off running it in 3rd gear. thatll give you like a 580ish… with a 558 im turning 7200 at desoto. so you may be able to just turn 7200-7500 but imo it’s putting a strain on the motor doing so.you on facebook? if so look for fred harrison jr, he’ll tell ya what ya need and be honest with you.
