Night #3: Kasten black-flagged?

So I’m watching Speed51’s Trackside Live for the SLM feature.

Apparently, Becca Kasten jumped a restart on the outside of Timmy Russell, but they let it go. After a couple of laps, though, they black-flag her while leading.

Back at the Governor’s Cup, when Nasse did the same thing to Rogers, they immediately threw the caution again and got another go. That was when Nasse let Rogers go because he didn’t wanna jump again.

So my question is…why the inconsistency? It was the same situation, from what I can tell. Why did Nasse get a second chance, but Kasten doesn’t?

I’m just asking because I’m not there, and wondering why.

That whole deal was screwed up. Did you notice tim Russell got his spot back too? He lost it and she clipped him while he was gathering it up. He should not have got his spot back.

Rogers again with crap luck this speedweeks, looked like maybe a tire went down w 1 to go.

Agreed, that was a bizarre call.

why ???

She was black flagged right away , so why didnt her spotter tell her to get the hell out of the way and let the boys race. I looked to me she was holding the field up she is an ok driver but not able to keep up with the nss boys. And by the way why the hell does eveybody bass on tim russell so much, he is a hard racer and has talent to be out there like everyone else he has beat everybody in fl ga and even bama so give him credit for the abilty to drive his butt off.

looked to me she was holding the field up she is an ok driver but not able to keep up with the nss boys.
I wasn’t there last night, so I didn’t see what happened. But when I saw her run at the Governor’s Cup back in November, she passed the “NSS boys” - Anderson, Russell, Rogers, and a few others - on the outside, which isn’t easy to do for a first-timer at NSS. Her spotter probably told her, “It’s BS, keep goin’”, but from what it looked like on Trackside Live, she did eventually drop back behind the lead-lap cars. Then she raced her way back up to second, but it also looked like there wasn’t very many cars :-\

On her Facebook page, she said Ricky Brooks came over to her after the feature and even he agreed that it was a BS call by the track officials (the tower).

It wasn’t Becca’s first time at nss at the governors cup. She has raced ASA their and she also ran every day last year during speedweek.

She was leading a big money race a few months ago with Steve Wallace and I can’t remember who else but she was leading with just a few laps to go and she jumped the start real bad and got put to the back also.

Racer - I think it has to do with his attitude and actions on the track - the guy has been a horses ass for the last year. Case in point, Saturday night, he gets under Kasten and drives her damn near to the turn one wall - no retaliation from her. Then, last night, he almost spins himself out and she cant get it slowed in time and nudges him around - then after the race, he acts like he is coming after her? WTF - same thing with Nasse after the Red Eye. Guess he wasn’t sure the race was over.

Jimmy…and there is where a problem comes in…the last sentence of you post about another track person coming and saying somthing!

Everyone needs to do THEIR job! I can not tell you how many times I have seen this! Let the race director…whoever it is…do their job and let the other staff do their job! It is this undermining that screws a LOT of things up! If indeed that was done, it undermines the other officials. If the official is making wrong calls then the track needs to do somthing about that!

OK I ranted now time to go back and feed the goats LOL

Jimmy, do you have a link to Kasten’s Facebook page? I looked at the one I could find, and saw no mention of the race.

Jacko, PM’ed it to ya:

From her Facebook:
“Night three of Speedweeks. Lead the first half of the race. Caution came out. I got a good restart. They decided it was too good so they black flagged me. (Total BS call. even Ricky Brooks said so, got the video. this time.) Was sent to the back of the field. and still managed to rebound to. finish second. Great night of racing, just need better luck.”

Ok, thanks. I guess you have to be her Facebook friend to read it.

bubba maybe you should get a copy of that race and look at her wheels the are turned right into him and you cnat under stand what it takes to make a super ricky brooks freindly car, it take many man hours to make it right and it bs when tumb things happen like that. and as far as nasses he is just a spoiled little kid that can drive, but a liitle smart mouth BRAT!!! Karma is a bitch.

Maybe if your boy Tim had as much respect for others cars as you seem to want me to, he wouldn’t have dive bombed her the night before, running her to the wall, check your tape on that one. Frankly, I felt he had it coming - as you say karma is a bitch.

For what its worth, I agree with Bubba…

Becca got a royal screwing on that deal. It was announced that “All 4 wheels must be past the re-start line”. Who came up with THAT rule???

She was informed of the jumping of the re-start, and voluntarily gave up not only the lead, but second place also. Apparently, that wasn’t good enough… they wanted her on the tail of the field… even behind the agonizingly slow car of Russ Shaw. After all that, she still blasted her way back towards the front.

As for Racer1989’s comment about “not being able to keep up with the NSS boys”… dude, open your eyes. Last night she ran off and left EVERYONE but Russel behind (who started on the pole, and didn’t have to pass anyone). This girl has a TON of talent, and runs very well everywhere she goes. She’ll get a win yet this week, and I hope I’m there to see it. It’s too bad that your obvious infactuation with Tim Russell has caused you to miss out on some other outstanding talent out there (yes, including Steven Nasse). Racing is a lot more fun if you actually use your eyes.
