A great visit to Daytona

No, I am not much of a Cup fan, but today I had a few free tickets and the weather was perfect, so I knocked off work, checked my 3 sons out of school and we went to the races. I’m really happy we did! I think today might have been the day I hooked the two younger ones on racing. They like to watch me drive at Speedworld, but usually are not too interested in the other cars. Well today we sat near the top of the Oldfield grandstand and those two guys had a blast. They traded the binoculors back and forth, pointed, yelled and just loved it.

All of us picked a car to cheer for, so that really kept them involved.

Then an excellent thing happened in the second race. Brian Kesolowski was attempting to race his way into his first cup start. He was a tremendous long-shot to make it, and was as good as headed to the hauler when his brother Brad hooked him up and pushed him toward the front. The announcers picked up on this, and so did we. It was such a good example to my boys about how brothers have to support each other. I’m always on their case about how its ok to compete hard with others, but you have to cooperate and help each other. What a super example this was!

Well, both Kesolowski brothers made it in the race, and naturally the four of us stopped for a super good pizza on the way home.

I tell 'ya something, the fans that only go to the superspeedways miss out on so much. One visit every year or two is enough for me because I am a short tracker all the way. I guess if the boys want to go back to Daytona then I am stuck!

Boneman remember you roots!

[SIZE=“2”][I]Just kidding. But, the new style of racing in Nascar Cup anyway seems to have its own new style of pick a parnter and lets dance. The Fords are the pushers for sure. I though #17 and #29 WHERE THE ONES TO BEAT!!!. Then here coming another pair and other and another. Then the group slows down and the pack of even another group of pairs get up to the front and then it starts all over again. If you like passing and white knuckles racing the 500 will be the place. I think after the race they will all need a beer. I looking forward to the Truck race tonight. And then to Nation Wide’s Pairs Racing as well. Aric is my pick for the NW race for sure! WOW does Kurt Busch seems to be the man to beat with his two starts and two WINS. But I still pulling for the BUDMAN himself “HAPPY HARVICK” (and Matt till the tri oval anyway)!!!
GO MAN Goooooo!!! #29 and #17 PAIRS RACING till the end!!![/
