Has anything been decided on Volusia’s future??? Can’t get any info!!!
WHAT IS YOUR TAKE OR OPIION:anim_pound:

This is the last post from Florida dirt track news forum:
Well, I decided to call out to Volusia today to see what they had to say. This is what I was told; I quote ?As of this moment there is no 2011 season for Volusia. However, there are three very good possibilities who may take over operations of the track for 2011. Meetings are taking place this week to discuss a contract and the result will be known Monday evening. A tentative schedule has already been made to be put in place if the contract happens and it will be posted on the web site immediately".
I guess racing at Volusia rest with whoever these investors are.

Maybe they should truck the clay over to Putnam!
How about making the whole place a “Diversity Garden” where Michelle Obama can grow crops?
Sell it to FASCAR. (Hmmm… not bad…)

Sorry for the dark humor, but I amazed that such a great track has an uncertain future. I certainly hope it gets open and has a healthy and successful season.

Last I heard they (DIRT) were looking at some parties that operated some of their tracks up north and having them look at running the track, but doing so on a reduced (not weekly) racing calendar.

I got that third hand, so take it for what it’s worth.

I have talked to the people at DIRT and they assured me the minute something is decided, they would let me know so I can post it for everyone. There are some good prospects but nothing yet firm. I would hate to see that track sit empty all year, it is too nice for that. But they are working on this and hopefully an announcement will be made soon.

WOW! This is just CRAZY! How do they expect to have any kind of season in 2011 with all of the “if’s” going on at the start of the season! Who ever takes this place over is going to have an uphill battle! This I know from experience! We tried to open this place (Monroe) up after it was in Banruptcy with no plan in place…oh yeah there was one…sell $300,000 of advertising to keep it afloat…guess how that worked out? Drivers are making their plans as to where they are going to race, now with all of the “if’s” They may just decide to sit back and wait. Even if they were to open as normal with the change in leadership there is going to be a lull in the performance of the track! Someone needs to get it togather up there and make this thing GO! It would be a shame to see that place go down!
Just my 2 cents…dang now I am broke!

You see on here about all the money that the tracks are ripping the racer of for. Well it must not be much with all the tracks trying to find some one else with funding to keep them open.Cant rase tickets or lower purse so close the track and find some thing else to do.
It might be a good idea to suport your local track whale its there or plan on driving.
Thunk about south florida. no tracks left. This could be you.
Who is next?

Volusia

Volusia is putting the word out that they are racing and the first race will be March 19th or 26th. Same Rules, same classes as they are getting such a late start.

Fascinating - just today in a newspaper I read that VSP would not be running weekly shows and DIRT is waiting on the gentleman that used to run Orange County to lease VSP.

Trippy,
When you say “Orange County”, you are referring to a track out of state, right, and not the little track that used to run next to Speedworld?

My bad - Orange County as in upstate New York.
