Ocala Mini Stocks????????

Looks like Mike might not want us their much longer? I didn’t have my new car ready for opening night, however I did make the long trip to Ocala to support the track and check out the competition! Unfortunately they only had six cars show up, but it was opening night, I don’t think you shoud let that base a decision to start cutting race nights off of the schedule, however it appears that is what has happened since March 25th is no longer a race date for the mod mini’s!!! When you only have 3 race nights on the schedule to start with; in the first two months of the season, it really makes you start to wonder if it’s even worth the investment you have in your racing operation to race their anyway? Really like to know how everyone is feeling about this? Any more mod mini’s planning on coming to Ocala???

I was going to run ocala sat but had family down for bike week I ran putnam last month and only 4 cars showed

86ChevyMatt!!!

Matt Ocala runs on Friday’s!

that really sucks ray. well theres always eastbay. they have a pretty good car count right now.

yea thats what I meant !!

Fading?

It seems the minis are fading and I think it’s a shame, I think they put on a good show! I do wonder though if the cost is a factor, I mean some of those things are almost as expensive as a late model now. I don’t know but I hope they come back to what they were not all that long ago.

They only seem to be fading on the east side of the state , over here on the west side theres plenty at every track , dirt or asphalt .

Well that’s good to hear. Seems only 4-5 yrs ago there were more at New Smyrna. Don’t even run them at Speed Weeks, along with lots of other local classes, just trucks 3 nites and 3-4 div. Of modifiers and the same with late models.

you hit the nail on the head. thier out of control, thier not mini-stock any longer for sure. i understand body are getting harder to find, but to aloow the motor rules they do. they ran alot of people out, it’s to much money. im not sure about a latemodel, but i know i had way more in my daughters outlaw4 than i ever had in my limited late… it’s just crazy. minis are a dieing breed for sure, on the west coast too. citrus made thier 4cyl bombers minis now, and adale got thiers under control… but the dirt track mini’s are way far gone!!!imo

Citrus only changed names. They still run the same cars but the classes have been renamed. The bombers are now known as mini-stocks and the former mini-stocks are now known as modified mini-stocks. I believe this change may have been made to comply with the other tracks class names. It’s no wonder fans get confused.

hell!!! i have both and im confused lol

AMEM JODY,
I could probly have 2 LLM’s for what I have in the OUTLAW 4.
$4500-$6000 in engine if you want to run up front. It is getting bad.
Stock rod, after market piston,450 lift cam rule and you would probly have 30 cars a night.

Racer 75!

I totally agree with you on the motor rules! I would even say lets go to strictly stock clutch, pressure plate and flywheel!!! Lets keep it a true race car though and keep the tube chassis’s. Pinto’s and mustangs are getting very hard to find.
