I have been around racing most of my life, both watching and working on cars. Now it comes time to get ready for college. Has anyone been to or know anyone who has been to Nascar Technical Institute? If so do you recomend it, or is there something better out there. Please tell me you thoughts.

I paid for my nephew to attend about 3 years ago. All went well, graduated top of his class, but there was no real racing commitment in the program. Also, with the number of teams cutting down, there is no real need for recruitment from the institute. They trained him to be a service advisor (dealership application), basic engine build, electronics, and bodywork. There was no chassis dynamics class or set-up explaination. He is currently working in a bodyshop in southwest Missouri. I could have save the tuition and employed him at my dealership doing the same thing. My opinion: Until there is another boom in the racing industry, go to real university to earn a real degree.
I was also thinking about going to wyotech for Motorsports Chassis Fabrication, or High Performance Powertrain would that be better?

If I could do it again, I would have got a degree in engineering(instead of MARKETING) and worked part time at a race shop, sweeping floors, cleaning tools and parts etc., until I could “move up” or learn enough about the race cars to get a promotion…UNC Charlotte, maybe??

That also have that motorsports reality show Motorsports U.
I am really impresed with unoh. I like that they have groups that go to the track to help teams, work on over the wall stuff, and run there own team of just students.
going to go to traviss and get a degree for body work (while in high school, it free) and then going to unoh for custom engine building. I think I will have many options after that.
