Speed51 live video from N Wilkesboro

They just announced a live video stream for The Race. I will be signing up.

My question is - does this help or hurt the event? I am assuming they have some royalty fee with the event so the track will get some cut - which would make up for the fan that may not come out because of the video option.

I was just this morning looking at flights to see what I could come up with - now I am not going to bother, but will plunk down my $20 to watch on the internet. The track stands to make a bunch more if 10000 people signup and they get a decent cut.

You know if this is a success it will be in place for the Derby too. Could be a major influence on short track racings big events.

OK so they eleminated FREE the trackside now coverage and said you have to spend 19.99 to get the coverage…

I think TV is great! But they shouldn’t have eleminated the FREE internet blog service. People who want it in picture will pay…The rest will log on and Speed51 will continue to get the hits…

I know speed51 spends alot of money to provide the coverage…but this will make it NOT COOL to the followers that have supported it.

If you have ever watched “The Social Network”, I think they are selling themselves short on what they could be…

Hadn’t thought about that side of it. Are they really doing that?

If they cover the lead up activities (practice and qualifying etc) w trackside now and then video only for the race, I would be ok. The ts now for the actual race wasn’t as good as the lead in and follow up they provide.

I am curious on the overall take from the promoter side, are they better off or not. Will it hurt the gate more than will be made up on internet?
