Headin' to the Bay....

For the first time in a looooong time, gonna head up to East Bay for a regular Saturday night show.
And the best part is that my boy was the one who suggested it!
HOPING this is the start of him getting interested in motorsports as I’ve been waiting 15 years for that very thing to happen!
Late Models and OWM’s on the menu tonight. Hope it’s a good show. If anybody else is gonna be there hit me up on here or call me (Jerry, Rex, Trip or Roger) and we’ll hook up for a brewski.

Hey, that is cool Matt. It feels great when the kids show an interest in the old man’s passion.

Not trying to one-up your story, but I have a similar one. I took my two youngest boys to the kart races last week and they loved it. I had an old kart collecting dust at work, so I’ve been tinkering with it this week and hope that it will be ready for them to race next week.

thats the next generation keep bringin um up right congrats on a good job

Same thing happened to me last night and will again tonight. Took wife to the couch and watched the best drivers in the world, can’t wait!

So, Tilapia, what you’re saying is…

…you left her at work, collecting dust, and now you finally decided to tinker with her a bit on the couch while watching an old re-run of Smokey and the Bandit and tonight you’re tuning into Cannonball Run.

Is that what you meant?

That’s cool too…I guess.

Me? I had a pretty good time at the Bay but there were way too many cautions. And while I applauded them running a 5 division line up, they took way too much time getting the fields lined up and ready to go as the winners were getting pictures and kisses. They really need to set a maximum number of times a single race car can bring out a caution before they get shown the black flag of death for stinkin’ up the show. Like I said. waaaaay too many cautions for (while not as small as a lot of asphalt tracks) not so full fields of cars. There was some good racing going on in all the classes and no “one” car/driver ran away with anything. It was pretty dang good.

Was 25 bucks to get in the pits…saw some old friends (Jay and Gene are still slingin’ race tires after all these years)…then met a few more that were firefighter/racers, too…and the boy and I had a great time together so it was a damned successful night. Glad we went.

Thanks, East Bay!

Tony needs to slow down, had the race run. The commercials remind me of the 20 mins of foolishness that no one cares about between the races. Still wonder what happened to the staging of the next race in turn 4 while they have the celebration in turn 4?
