The racing community has lost one of its bravest souls as Beau Slocumb has passed after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 26. Slocumb was an extremely popular Late Model racer in the deep South and especially around Central Georgia and always was a fan favorite. Groups from his church and his surrounding community would frequently trek to wherever Slocumb was racing to cheer him on. Slocumb was a winner in several different Late Model series in the South and made a return to racing last summer after having battled cancer a first time to race in the Legends Million event at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He had been working in the shop of NASCAR team Turner Motorsports before falling ill once again last Fall.
Beau raced at Orlando SpeedWorld a couple of times during the Legend Car Winternationals and was a top Legend driver before turning to the Late Models…
