Ok, My Take On The New Nascar

If I remember correctly nascrap told the drivers last year to have at it, correct??? Now, they have interjected themselves into the Newman/Montoya fued and the Harvick/Busch fued, I juust read where Tuesday it will come down as to what nascraps decision will be as far as suspensions and fines!! These a$$clowns are as bad or worse than our damn government with all this double speak, and some of you members wonder why I among a few others here have a case of the red ass for nascar??? Honestly, I used to love it, I missed weddings, funerals, ect just to go to the Daytona 500, now it’s a running joke at my shop, most of the true diehard NASCAR fans I know don’t have any interest in it anymore, after taking a long look at everything involved, the only positive I can take away from it all is the points system, and I’m not 100% sure I even get that.

I have a room in my basement reserved for all things racing, 99% of it is NASCAR stuff, I have more diecast than you could haul away in a large uhaul, more posters, full size cardboard cutouts, autographed stuff, ect than most people could ever imagine having, I haven’t bought one piece since 2002, it’s sad really, and rest assured I’m not alone. I went to Bowman Gray last week for the season opener and just last night went to Motor Mile Speedway in Radford,Va for the very first time, what a nice track!! anyway, I can tell you almost 100% of people asked around me standing in line to get in, sitting around me in the stands and people I met in the pits have almost NO interest in nascar, the Cup series in particular, I made it a point to start conversations and ask questions about it just to get a feel for it, to see if I was the only one, well, as I soon found out there are 1000’s of people that feel the same way as I.

So, preach all you want, until nascar changes the way they do things, stop all the damn double speak, let the cars and the drivers have a personality and quit trying to be BIG BROTHER, we will not be back. I payed $10 to get into Bowman Gray, it cost me $63 in gas to get there, I drove right past Richmond Raceway on the way there, you figure it out, I was surrounded by real race cars, real race fans and drivers that have personality, and me, my girls and the 5 people that went with me had a blast, walked the pits before the races and met every driver, shook thier hand, got autographs, even talked to the people that run the track, I beg of you to try that at a nascar race, I dare you to ask Montoya for a moment of his time, same thing at Motor Mile, $10, and seen one hell of a late model race!!

I don’t see nascar changing anytime soon, I guess all those empty seats they blame on the economy, you can blame the season tickets I held for Bristol I just sold on me thinking nascar sucks, along with 1000’s of others, next week, it’s World of Outlaws late models for me, nascar, you gotta make some big changes to get the real race fans back in the seats.

It isn’t only NASCAR, but long before that, was the downslide of the Indy 500, or namely IndyCar Racing in general, with the split that CART took with them.

Even the real ASA and All-Pro Series’ have died out, dozens of dirt-track late model series’ have gone by the wayside, USAC Late Model Series, and the Joey Chitwood Thrill Show is gone, lol.

Is there a bottom to this? And if there is, is there any sort of comeback?

Your right, I think the problem with some of that is the markets got flooded with to many series, hell, at one point Florida had 3 late model series plus Orlando, Bradenton, Citrus, Sunshine and New Symrna all ran them weekly, just not enough to go around. same thing applied to dirt, there are only so many teams to go around. Tony George killed INDYCAR, he shot himself in the damn foot. Whatever happened to Chitwood anyway?
I doubt there will be recovery or comeback, we need to support what we have left, nascar made their damn bed, let them pay the consequences for it, they are like Vince Mcmahon and the WWE, they want to have a lock on anything stock car, in the end it will cost them and cost them dearly.

Chitwood (Jr.) is now President of Daytona Int’l Speedway.

I got the ANSWER!

You need to stop complaining and start your own Series. Or just buy at track. DeSoto is for sale. Heck you could make millions of dollars. No the ANSWER is do both Buy Desoto and I sell you the rights of FASTRUCK. Heck you could put NASACR is there place once and for all.:sprachlos020::cool008::rolleyes::cool:

You make it sound like “Fastruck” even HAS a value…

Dammit!

Jerry beat me to that one…

Joie Chitwood III is President of DIS… He did grow up with his grandpa’s thrill show but the show eventually ran its course for two reasons… increased cost of insurance and the fact that tracks began doing such shows as Crash-A-Ramas that they could put on themselves without having to pay an outside “vendor” to come in… Of course, now you have these type of shows “traveling” across the country so the old thrill show is really back, just with school bus figure-8s, camper races etc. instead of ramp-to-ramp jumps and precision driving.

Not any more.

But with all the knowledge I think all of you have you could bring it back to the 2004 Golden Era 56 FASTRUCK at Lakeland USA. With and average of 44 for 2004. DeSoto would be the one to bring it back to it hay days. With all your knownledge of whats wrong with everything. HECK I bet you can fix NASCAR!!!:sprachlos020::aetsch013::grinser010::fragend005::ernaehrung004:

You know what Bobby, Im so sick of your brainwashed nascar BS, always making the smart ass comments huh? I think you’ll go by the way of old man Nerone and add to my ignore list. Your sick and brainwashed. I’ll tell you the same thing I told that jackass, before you pass judgement on me you might want to make double damn sure just who it is your making your 1st grade comments to. It makes you look like your 5 years old.
I didn’t write what I wrote to bitch or complain or make it seem like I had the answer you dumb $hit, I WANT TO SEE IT FIXED!!! What part of that do you not get thru your thick skull Bobby?? One thing is for sure, I’m done conversing with the likes of you, and btw, fastruck went in the toilet about as fast as nascar so who the hell are you to even speak on the subject?

relax–

Relax, Abyss—it’s not Bobby talking/typing, because it is all spelled correctly.
It has to be someone else, for sure.

Right on Bobby. I agree with Abby in gen but I feel basically the same about the local short track in my area. 6 fields, 30 cars. The attitude " it’s a privelage for the fans and drivers to be able to come to the track, is killing the track. Sorry Abby, I’ll sit home where it’s comfortable, watch NASCAR before I’ll go watch 2-6car fields at local track. They absolutely ruined the truck series, just 3-4 yrs ago it was THE series to be in. But they allowed a few money teams to buy tech and now everyone has left the series. So Dear Abby, NASCAR isn’t the only series screwed up, at least they still have lots of cars and in my opinion put on a good show. I still say your bitterness is because you either didn’t get the opportunity or just wasn’t good enough. Reminds me of the days when every small town up north had a baseball team and they all hated the major leagues. Like Bobby says, why don’t you start your own series? When Bobby ran the trucks it was a GREAT series, did you have anything good to say about it then?

Can’t Wait till SUNDAY!!!

THE MONSTER MILE!!!:auto003::auto003::anim_pound::anim_buttkick::blink:GOoooo NASCAR GOooooo…
It don’t get NO BETTER thatn this.

Lol, I think again you missed the point. I don’t mean to say that nascar is the only screwed up series, hell, my all time favorite series,ASA, got screwed up for sure, that’s a story within itself. All bs aside, I wish we could go back a little, I don’t have a problem with change but nascar is so predicable every week it’s sickening, most fans of Kyle, Jimmy, ect don’t even know who Jr. Miller is, they don’t know that Chase Elliott is Bill’s son and kicking ass and taking names all over the east coast, they are brainwashed into thinking nascar is the premier racing league and it’s not anymore.

I wish you and I lived closer, I would show you races like they used to be and not with 6 cars in them. Yes the economy has hurt some of it but I’ve been to everything from the PASS race at Wilkesboro to season opener at Bowman Gray, Motor Mile, Steel Block Bandits, Three States Flyers, WOO late models, and I’ve yet to have a complaint about any of it. If your ever up this way take in a Steel Block Bandits show, usually at least 30 cars. Nascar has made billions off of us, they will survive, the short tracks may not, and with the brainwashing of people like Bobby and yourself it’s only going to get worse.

Nascar has raped the race fans for years and what have we got in return?? cookie cutter cars and drivers that for the most part are afraid to voice their opinions for the fear of the great nascar, rules that are insane, cars that I can’t go to the dealership and buy anything that even remotely resembles what they race, wanna know what I drive to work every day? A pearl white Davey Allison Edition thunderbird, remember those? I have three of’em. My F150 kinda resembles a nascar truck but it sure doesn’t have that dumbass splitter hanging off of it and it sure as hell doesn’t say toyota across the tailgate!!

So, you guys keep sitting at home on your asses, I’m out supporting my short tracks. On tap this week, WOO late models at the newly remodeled Winchester,Va. Speedway

Re: Aby

I do agree with you on the cookie cutter cars, I enjoyed NASCAR a lot more when the cars looked like showroom cars. I remember the Alan Kilwecki, Davy Allison, Early Bill Elliott, and many other days. In my opinion those were THE NASCAR days. The mid 80’s Monte Carlo, Ford Thunderbird, etc. Cars, yes it WAS better then. But ABY, I’m not brainwashed, it’s just that the only track within an hr or so, (actually two) are having lots of problems and don’t seem to want to change, in my opinion. I get labeled as a trouble maker, which I guess I am, no problem, but they are the ones suffering more than me. I have lost interest in watching 4-5 car races. I mean, a 50 lap truck race last week and what 6 trucks started? Just 3-4 yrs ago there would of been 20 or more. Why? I won’t go into it now but bottom line I’m not into it enough to drive 2-3 hrs each way on a Sat night to MAYBE see a better field, I have a life, I have other interests. I’m 62 and don’t feel like getting home every Sun A.M. 1-2 o’clock just to go to some other track. People say I need to go to my local track, support it, well I used to and got kicked in the b—s for it, so if that’s makes me a track bashed, so be it. I may go this weekend, hope they have a decent field, thinking the E-Mods may have a decent field but the 1or2races I’ve seen were boring, great handling, lack of power IMO, and yes, I’m entitled to it, so again if that makes me a bashed, so be it. So no, I’m not brainwashed but NASCAR is the best alterternative I have right now. I’m with you, I hope it changes, BOTH NASCAR and My local track. I do have o say, when Bobby ran the truck series, in mt opinion it was the best raving around locally.

To the professor

No, I did NOT misspell a bunch of words, maybe a couple but not a bunch. I just don’t care about that crap as much as you and my fingers hit the wrong keys a few times, but then again, that’s why you’re the Professor and I’m just a pion.

I here ya tuna, I found this in another thread, I rest my case about nascar losing it’s ass.

The NASCAR Hall of Fame lost $187,983 in January, pushing its cumulative loss for the fiscal year to $1.03 million.

The hall’s total attendance for the month was 23,177, which includes nearly 12,000 people who visited for free during a one-week open house.

Before the hall opened in May, the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority projected the hall would have a surplus of roughly $700,000 for its first year. But that budget has since been revised, and the CRVA now forecasts a loss of $1.29 million for fiscal year 2011.

The good news for the CRVA is that the hall’s financial performance is now matching the revised budget. In its revised budget, the CRVA had projected a loss of $1.07 million through January. That means the hall is slightly ahead of its new budget.

The CRVA, a subsidiary of the city of Charlotte, has said it will use its reserves to cover losses for this fiscal year, which ends in June. If there are losses in future years, the CRVA might have to ask the City Council for money from the hospitality taxes on motel and hotel rooms, as well as on prepared food and beverages.

The CRVA and the city have said that general fund tax dollars - which pay for police, fire and other essential services - won’t be used.

The hall probably will have two more lean months in February and March before crowds grow again in April, May and June.

I know which tracks your talking about, until someone other than that family runs those places it will never change, period. I do have to give nascar credit for one thing, my oldest daughter went to Darlington, had great seats and only paid $35 bucks apiece for them, hell Winchester,Va charged $30 for grandstand seats to a damn 50 lap WOO late model race!!!

BTW, don’t fret these peckerheads about the mis spelled words, at 62 years old, your allowed dude.

What’s that got to do with NASCAR?

Still the BEST DAM… RACING in TOWN!!!:auto003::auto003::anim_buttkick::anim_pound::blink:
