I spoke with the family this morning and would like everyone to know that Dave is resting comfortably, because of his strong relationship with the Lord, he is totally at peace with his situation.:engel016:
Ummm…does this mean…that Dave is no longer with us, or…??
I’m not sure why you would come to that conclusion based on my post Jimmy, i did indicate that he is resting comfortably. As we all know, when someone goes to Hospice, it is time to except that due to the condition of the patient, Hospice is better equipped to handle the care at this time.

The reason I asked what I did was because of this: “Dave is resting comfortably, because of his strong relationship with the Lord, he is totally at peace with his situation.”
Doug, thanks for the response via PM. We’ll keep Dave in our prayers and hope for the best
Hey Bob…that’s Dave Dunkin, another west-coast Florida hot shoe who was good no matter whose car he was driving. He also drove my dad’s car for a time there at Auburndale and St. Pete.
Is that #74 Daves car? I have seen Dave race several times over the years but I don’t remember meeting him. I am sure I did at some point but I can’t remember. I was going to look for somw video of Dave racing.
He drove the 69 (yellow/black) Inter Bay Marine car too.
Bob…
The blue #71 is Dave Dunkin (the Blue Goose). He was in a team car to the Simmons kid in the blue #74 in the video…but as it was most of the time his cars were all blue anyways. Also that’s Jim Brinkley Sr looking at the camera at the start.
Dave Scarborough. A lot like Donnie Tanner, to me, as two men who could drive the wheels off of anything they sat in and consistently win, too. From what I remember their mannerisms were a lot alike, also.
My condolences to both the families of these great racers.
I rember Dave winning in the late and sprint at Goldengate and Sunshine on the same weekend many times. Also Donnie Tanner doing the same thing at the gate and eastbay. Both great Racers and people. Have a lot of respect for both of them. May god bless both of them

If someone can give me a date that Dave raced at Desoto after 1983 and before 2006 Or Sunshine 88’ or 89’. I’ll see if I can find some video of one of his races. Thanks Bob…
