Won the CRA race at Dixie Speedway in Michigan last night. Two national level Super LateModel wins in two weeks.
And now for the rest of the story…
(From reports that I have heard from several people)
Rebecca Kasten (who many will remember from Speedweeks at NSS) led just about the whole race which was scheduled for 125 laps… With caution laps they ran over 180 laps total and Kasten ran out of fuel on the final lap…
I am a huge Chase Elliott fan but on this one he was in the right place at the right time as Kasten dominated and should have won!
I HATE fuel mileage wins, HATE them. Problem is I don’t know what to do about them. If they held 40 gals they’d still try to stretch it out and someone would run out. Not sure if I hate fuel mileage races or rain shortened races the most. Oh well, Im guess being in the right palce at the right time is all part of it too.
Chase won again last night…two big CRA wins in less than 24 hours.
Erik Jones led much of the race sometimes in commanding fashion when his right front tire went down with less than 30 laps to go. So once again someone had bad luck and chase was able to win.
Time for some sarcasm
Man I tell you what. If that Elliott kid had a little talent to go with all that “LUCK” , he might be something one day.
And to think we thought he had dropped off the face of the earth.
hmmmmmmmmmm.
Was not putting him down the kid got talent just pointing out he wasn’t the car to beat that day.
I guess he was lucky at pensacola last week too…he proves the old adage that Id rather be lucky than good.
Ive not seen many drivers that get torn down faster than Chase…sad for 15 year old kid.

Nobody said anything bad about him just pointing out that he also needs luck sometimes to win. Like I said he’s got talent and what does age have to do with it?
Mod, I was more making a point about a thread from a few weeks ago. I agree that Chase has benefited from some great luck in the past few weeks but he’s also been up at the front which allows him to capitalize. He’s won three National level SLM races in a week. At some point, the luck runs out and you better know what you’re doing.
Yes i remember that thread and I agree you have to be there to take advantage of someone elses bad luck. The kid as talent and hopefully will continue to run good.
My point also
Yes that was the thread I was alluding to also.
I just wanted to reply on the post I made a few weeks ago. I never meant or said that the kid doesn’t have talent. I think he SHOULD win every time he runs his late model. It is a factory backed nationally $ponsored NASCAR based team late model team competing against regional super late model teams. It is kind of like Butch Miller and SS Green Light Racing NASCAR based ASA late model team beating, well, me for the ASA championship. I didn’t expect anything less. And I would not expect anything less out of any other driver that would be in that equipment.
In my post a few weeks ago I was pointing out that I thought that if he was one of the top 5 best short track drivers in the country that I thought he would be doing way better in K and N. Sure he has talent I just don’t think he is ready for the hall of fame.
This is where everybody said I was bashing the kid so let it rip.
P.S. BVS you so funny!!!
Nicely put
Why thank you sir.
And thanks for taking the joke well.
I have never seen your son race yet but…
I hope he gets the right breaks to get himself in position
to recieve the quality of equiptment Chase has access to.
I’ll be damned!!!
Speaking of Becca Kasten… why hasn’t anybody picked her up as a developement driver. In my opinion, she is THE best female racer in the country right now.
Better than Johanna Long, Danica Patrick, Chrissy Wallace… and FAR above the league of Mlka Duno, Jennifer Jo Cobb, Michelle Theirreault, Natalie Sather… etc…!
This girl has loads of talent.

Hey, no problem BVS. I always like your humor. Its to bad the people in the stands can’t tell the difference between the equipment. It would give them a better sense of the talent behind the wheel.
If you had two drivers with the same exact equipment you would expect the driver with better talent to win right.
But, If you had 25 drivers and one of them had way way better equipment than the other 24 and that driver with the better equipment won. Does that mean he has more talent than all those other drivers?
Again. If you had 10 drivers running for a championship and they are all in top notch equipment and teams and one driver is struggling to stay in 10th. What does that say for the talent of that driver?
Hmmmmmmmm

all i got to say the real racers know the answer. they dont blame it on money

Nobody gets “picked up” anymore. You buy your way. That’s just the way it is. You could buy any driver in the country a developmental ride with the right size check. It doesn’t matter if you can drive or not it just matters if you can pay. Your list above proves that.
The problem is that it cost to much anymore. A good K and N developmental ride is up to $750k. Trucks are getting $25k-65k a race. You want to guess what a Nationwide ride cost? I’ll tell ya if you need to know.
We competed with Becca for about three years. She is a wheel man!! She would have better luck going after a diversity deal. At least Johanna Long’s dad put his money into his team. He will at least have something to show for his money.
It sucks but that is the way that is. There is to many rich daddy’s waving big checks in the face of any good ride in the country. That makes it tough for the ones that work their heart and soul out and develop the talent to never even get a shot. There is a big difference between working for it or having it handed to ya.
There is some real good talent out there you will never here about because of the mighty dollar.

You got to be a real racer to know a real racer. Where does that leave you? I guess you will never know the answer.
