St. Pete Announces Classes

Posted on the FaceBook page today by Robert/Danielle Yoho:

“The classes will be Late models, sprints, open wheels, street stocks, 4cyl bombers, possibly mod mini and trucks. Two figure 8’s a pro and street stock type. Will be holding meetings with each class to discuss rules, will start with street stocks maybe even next week. Stay tuned for more info.”

PLEASE keep in mind that “race day” and Re-Opening Day have NOT been announced yet, and that they are holding meetings with the classes to discuss rules, etc.

So, if y’all wanna run at St. Pete again, y’all better get ready

I hope/wish they do some announcing/posting on here. I for one don’t do the Facebook thing. It has somehow infected my computer twice.

Quite a historical moment in time!

Government buys racetrack for public project…

Can’t wait to get down there and catch some action. Might have to replace my annual BowmanGray trip for Sunshine!

Sunshine Speedway had the best asphalt racing I have ever witnesed! Perfect combination of facility, location and intensity.

Old School Mini Stock

They do not need to run mod mini , they need to run old school mini stocks, pinto’s an mustang ???

What he needs to do is start a new Mini Stock class… Pintos, Mustangs and Vegas we keep here in the Archives now… Make it for cars that are readily available and the stuff the kids are into now to get some new blood into the sport… Robert has a really good opportunity to make some positive changes to bring short track racing into a current perspective rather than living in the past…

Thanks Jimmy

For keeping us posted…

run cars that are around now

he needs to run classes of cars that are around now because with the economy it is going to be hard for people to build new cars.

Pinto’s, Mustang’s and especially Vega’s are not that easy to come by anymore.

Lots of old Southern Sportsman series cars still around!
